Acquired 3 kegs and co2 tank, what else do I need?

I know this topic is fairly redundant, but I didn't find any great answers with my search and wanted some interaction with people for this. I recently got my mitts on three pin lock kegs and a 10 lb co2 tank. What else do I need to be up and running (kegging)? I plan on using picnic taps at...

    MoreBeer videos with Vinnie Cilurzo

Pretty cool videos here, I've only begun watching video 1 but they all look interesting. Here's part 1: Vinnie talks about hops, Russion River's barrel aging program, practice recipes on a small 20 gal system, etc..... Check them out (link above will provide links to other 3 videos)

Any Deviant Dale's IPA Fans Out There?

I am curious in hearing a recipe for this as well. I have a 7% ABV all columbus IPA at home and also 3 Deviant Dales left so I can try to compare them, but I am admittedly not an expert (yet) at pinpointing ingredients. My recipe was 2 row with crystal (10L & 40L) and columbus hops. I'll try...

Teenagers in house - how to secure kegs?

Wow I wasn't expecting to see this many responses this morning! I will certainly look into those faucet locks, and it sounds like otherwise I may need to look into a way to lock the fridge. In regards to the kids' attitudes towards beer, it's hard to say where they will be at once they hit 15+...

Teenagers in house - how to secure kegs?

Normally with beer you can tell if sneaky teens are doing away with them because they disappear from the fridge, but with kegs in a fridge it's not as easy to notice a few missing here or there. We have kids in the house that are fast approaching high school which will inevitably mean a...

    Boiling on the grill?

Live Revvy said above, I bought a turkey fryer for $30 about 2 months ago at Target. Just keep your eyes open. And yes, it makes a huge difference from boiling on the stove.

What bag do you use for BIAB?

I use a rectangular piece of an old voile curtain. It isn't sewn, I just clip it to the sides of the pot and make sure that there are no gaps that grain can fall through

    Am I doing something wrong?

I brewed an IPA (2.5 gallon) on Monday that took 3.5 hours from start to finish. Felt like nothing considering I just sat on my deck and drank beer the whole time.

My APA tastes like a Belgian Pale Ale

I also have since taken my IPA out of the swamp cooler @ 62 deg and left it in my basement at ambient temp ~66 deg to see if I get better results.

Recipe assistance: Pale malt, Vienna, Crystal

Ah yes, good call. Maybe I'll bitter with the Columbus and use Willamette for the rest.

Recipe assistance: Pale malt, Vienna, Crystal

I realized I have a few lbs of Vienna left over from a previous brew. I have 6 lbs Pale Malt and .75 lb of crystal 10L and 40L each. I was gonna do just a pale ale with .25 lbs of each crystal and the pale malt but now I am wondering if I can make something more interesting by throwing the...

My APA tastes like a Belgian Pale Ale

Its not the Brett taste that I am referring to though, as far as I can tell

My APA tastes like a Belgian Pale Ale

Interesting. I am using US05 in an IPA right now and fermenting it in the low 60's. I guess I should try to raise it up a bit

My APA tastes like a Belgian Pale Ale

I was drinking a Green Flash Rayon Vert yesterday and realized that the "off" flavors I've been getting in my pale ale tasted almost exactly like this belgian pale ale style. Any ideas what would cause my APA recipe to taste like that? If I recall, the recipe was a SMASH with 2 row and cascade...

    Help with an IPA recipe

So I brewed this yesterday and I unintentionally mashed pretty low....started at 152 and fell to about 145 over the 60 min. I overshot my target gravity, ending up with 1.065 after the boil. Pitched yeast around 2:30 and this morning it was bubbling away in my airlock. I have high hopes for...

    Help with an IPA recipe

Thanks for the suggestions. I plugged these into Beersmith now that I am at home and will try the hop schedule listed above but with a bit less at 60 min because Im going with .25 lb each of crystal 10L and 40L. Beersmith puts it right around 54 IBU with .35 oz columbus at 60 and .25 oz at...

    Help with an IPA recipe

I have: 6 lbs Maris Otter 1 lb each of Crystal 10L and 40L 1 lb each of Columbus, Willamette, and Vanguard hop pellets. US-05 yeast I will probably make this a 2.5 - 3 gallon batch. I've been thinking about using all Columbus hops but not sure what hop schedule to use. Any ideas?

Help with recipe - Columbus IPA

Ok I had to reconfigure this in beersmith and since I already have bought my grains I had to drop it to a 2.75 gallon batch to get my numbers to come out right. Hows this: 6 lb Maris Otter 4 oz Crystal 10L 4 oz Crystal 40L .25 oz Columbus pellets - 60 min .25 oz Columbus pellets - 30 min .25...
