    Seoul Food

Continuing with the street vendors pics. As you can see a great mix of treats, Korean style corn dogs, meat on a stick, hardboiled eggs and ramen cups. This is a street vendor in the fish market located near the Haeundae beach area in the port city of Busan. The piles of yellowish items...

    Seoul Food

I've been in Seoul Korea now for a little over a year, and seeing as I am on a brewing hiatus while here I figured I would share with you my second hobby......FOOD!!! This is a what is called a Pojangmacha or literally "covered wagon". They are all over the city, any where where people...

    Bo Ssam Pairing

I have found that a Korean beer like Hite, Cass or even the old stand-by OB goes great with this type of meal. Then again Soju or makkuli (if you can find it) goes even better. Your banchan selections sound great, I would stick with just a sticky rice like is served in most restaraunts in...

Which recipe kit would you recommend for a 1st brew...

Yooper, i think newbrewguy could benefit from Palmers free How to Brew edition thats on the webs. Can you or one of the outstanding HBTer's post the link? I would do it but I am a dumb a** when it comes to technology.

Fermentation and FG? Can anyone tell me a good rule of thumb?

I agree 100% with wcrooker, additonally there are so many variables (type of yeast, ferm temps, lid seal) that counting bubbles can be an excercise in futility. Do a search for Revvy's thread on the subject its a good read and will answer you question in depth.

Yet again, another Black Butte porter clone post

Now that it seems the hot weather has broken here in El Paso (at least this weekend), its time for me to think about brewing again. I want to do a Black Butte Porter clone because it's the SWMBO's favorite. I have done a little research here by checking other posts and by going to the...

    Dry hop in primary?

I use pellet hops with no bag and have had no issues with hop derbris. This is just my technique. Use the search function and you will find a whole slew of posts on methods to dry hop in the primary.

    Dry hopping with pellets.

I just throw them in naked through the "bung hole" in my ale pail, let those hops do their thing for about 3-4 days, cold crash and rack with a mesh bag zip-tied onto my auto-siphon. No problems

Has anyone ever brewed when it's windy?

Had the same problem today, so I moved the rig into the garage, glad I can do that.

    Homebrew for the Boys

Save it for when he gets home. Like others have said it could get the Trooper in trouble. Besides Joe needs all his brain matter focused when he is in a place like Afghanistan. While some might think its cool to sneak some beer or alchohol to a deserving soldier, its would suck if said Trooper...

    NorthernBrewer Deluxe Beer Starter Kit

Hmmm...it took me about 2 months to decide on what I wanted to buy for a starter kit. Most kits that are offered, should meet your basic needs. I chose the Brewing Starting kit (Product #MBKE2) from Midwest supplies because of cost and what "stuff" was part of the package. In retrospect if I...

    Munich Yeast

Hey Brother, read the "it can take 24 to 72 hours to show signs of fermentation" sticky under the Beginners Beer Brewing Forum. I checked Mr Maltys pitch rate calculator assuming you pitched an 11.5 gram package of dry yeast @ 5 or 5.50 gallon volumes. Even with your spillage you should be...

How do you identify your homebrews?

The LHBS that I used in Tacoma when I lived there stocked different colored bottle caps. I knew I was going to have several different styles bottled over a period of time so I bought a bag of each color (red, blue, gold, silver etc). Its worked for me so far
