    Brewery names--what's your story?

Well I have for a while been trying to combine my interest for the American Revolution with beer, it had to be original without sounding too corny. I had a breakthrough yesterday. Broadside Brewing Co. Broadsides were the "Extra" papers of the day (although even that is an outdated term...

how to add on brewery to existing restaurant

Hell, you're closer to all of East TN than the rest of VA. Let me know when you will be 'opening' or where I can get your beer and I will make the drive on the first weekend available. Congrats!

    Gusher explanation

From what I understand (I'm sure someone knows better), it is possible that if it was only bottled this week, CO2 gets produced in the bottle and takes time to dissolve into the beer. If you open them early and especially at a warm/room temperature, this gas will cause a lot of foam in the...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2009?

Two 5 gallon batches of Witbier Two 5 gallon batches of Berliner Weisse That's since picking up the homebrew bug again a month ago, I have plans for at least another 50 gallons before the year is out. Along with massive equipment upgrades. 11431

    Wedding Witbier

Yeah its actually for my wedding and the red is roughly the colors of the bridesmaids dresses and accent on the bride's dress and black ribbon is used in their jewelry.

    Wedding Witbier

Just finished this one up today. Will most likely be the only beer that I label four cases of in the rest of my life. The official seal generator still has the basic templates up, so if you are handy enough with Photoshop, using those as a base is a pretty easy start to a label.

    Other homebrewers beer thoughts

I tend to be much more critical of my own beers than those of others.

Damn and I've been waiting since the 5/22 update so that I can make a seal for my Wedding beer label on 6/13 :(

Picked up some interesting brews this weekend

I'm curious why you picked up so many American beers while overseas. I assume they were much more expensive than they would be back in the states, I would take the opportunity to buy European beers that (if they even make it here) are much more expensive on this side of the pond. I think I'd...

    Used wrong yeast

The nottingham will ferment cleaner than a typical wheat beer strain would, you won't get any clove/banana esters common to wheat beers. If you have the wheat strain, you can still toss it in there if fermentation isn't too far along. Otherwise, it will still be beer, it just may not be a...

    Eliminating or reducing protein rings

I thought the long wait was more for beers where you want a Brett character to develop. The souring in this one is all lactobacillus and was at the level I wanted when I bottled. In any case, you may be right, but it had been a while since I homebrewed so I had nothing on hand to drink while...

    Eliminating or reducing protein rings

Alright, so I recently bottled up my first sour batch. A simple no boil Berliner Weisse recipe that turned out fantastic. It is carbing up at the moment and I suspect I will start seeing some protein rings just like the secondary fermenter had at the waterline of each bottle. So for...

    Howdy from Rocky Top

Just checking in. Been lurking a while and decided that since my active days at RateBeer will be declining as I decide to save* money by homebrewing more I should sign up over here. Been homebrewing for about a year and a half now, done about 10 batches, currently just bottled a Berliner...

What should I do with this?

Well, I've been lurking for a while and decided to sign up. Anyway, drink this beer. But, be careful, it isn't for everyone, and it wasn't for me the first time. That little bottle is good for 4 or 5 small pours. Pour about 2 oz out into the smallest tasting glass you have and recork...
