    Yeast for Kolsch

Well, I had a hefe that the Munich yeast was for, so I decided to just go ahead and brew the hefe instead even tho I had my heart set on the Kolsch. I’d rather just get the right yeast and do it right. Thanks again for the advice!!!!

    Yeast for Kolsch

I ordered an all grain kit from MoreBeer and since one of their options for yeast was US-05, I declined to order yeast since I had some on hand. I’m now at brew day and read some comments that US-05 will make a Kolsch taste pretty much like a blonde ale (which is ok but not preferable). I have...

    Keg parts question

Man, I think that’s exactly what I need! TYSM! Never realized there’s so much variation. I dove head first into kegging and it’s been a real headache

    Keg parts question

I bought three used kegs along with a bunch of used brewing equipment. When I started cleaning/sanitizing the new kegs, I didn’t pay much attention to the poppet valves, assuming (incorrectly I now realize) that they were all the same. After a lot of cussing and frustration I now realize they...

    Grainfather T500 first all grain

That’s what it is, but I bought it all used and the longer silicone tube wasn’t with it. I guess this was what they were using to recirculate the wort during mashing

    Grainfather T500 first all grain

One more question. I didn’t have the long hose that’s supposed to be attached to the recirculating arm that lays on top of the grain bed during the mash. I do have this short hose attached to an aerator that looks like it was being used in its place. This should work, no?

    Grainfather T500 first all grain

I checked those videos out and think I have the answer to my questions. Apparently my unit is 1st gen, but other than the controller, it appears the same as the later units. Thanks for the help, hopefully get to my first all grain brew after the holidays

    Water profile

Thanks! I live in the middle of nowhere, so LHBS is out for me, but appreciate the info!

    Water profile

Finally figured out that my tap water was the culprit to my underwhelming brews and have switched to distilled water which made a vast improvement. Trying to play with Brewfather and water profiles. Just wondering where to get the minerals to add, and if anyone had any suggestions about doing...

    Grainfather T500 first all grain

Bought a used T500 that I’ve brewed a few extract kits with. I’m ready to step up to all grain but feeling a little overwhelmed and would like to see some YouTube videos to get ready but all the videos are with newer units. I realize this isn’t a big deal, it’s same process, but was wondering...

    Corny Keg Cleanup

I just floated my very first kegged homebrew which was an extract kit Saison which I fermented and served from the same keg with a floating dip tube (it’s the first one I’ve ever brewed that I couldn’t wait to get a refill!). I opened it up and there was surprisingly very little yeast cake or...
