Supposedly you have to recalibrate every time after switching out the batteries (because each brand has a slightly different weight). Give that a try, perhaps it will help.

You invest in a Tilt hydrometer and a raspberry pi to post fermentation data to the web. Then you check the logs every few hours to see how the fermentation is coming along. And, as any proud parent would do, you show the chart to all of your friends! :yes:

I have 3 gallons of an amber saison bubbling away. Been in there a week now. Used 1/2 lb of dark muscovado sugar late in the boil. First time I've tried that particular type of sugar. Tasted great going into the fermenter! Have high hopes for this one.

Could it be that the tilt got stuck against the side, went vertical enough to turn off, and then slipped off whatever it was stuck against and started reporting again?

I had a similar problem. I actually ended up installing a second small faucet next to the first (I had a open hole in the sink that I would have had to put a plug into anyway). Not ideal, but it's a solution. The nice part is I can leave a quick connect permanently attached to the small faucet...
