    The State of Mississippi.

The Mississippi legislature did away with another archaic "blue" law today. Mississippi craft breweries will be able to sell directly to the consumers, as well as open up taprooms. It's a great day here. :mug:

Odd taste. Not bad, just unexpected.

I've been brewing for over a year now. My third brew in May 2015 was a huge monster of a stout. I didn't make a starter and only fermented a month before bottling. I've been opening the beers a few at a time and making notes of the changes every couple months. It was almost undrinkable for a...

Do home distillers dislike InBev type distilleries?

I know beer snobs, craft aficionados, and home brewers have a distaste for the big three. I just wonder if this translates to the at home distiller, the backbone of NASCAR. (I have no knowledge regarding the legality of your craft). Do you harbor a dislike for things like Jack Daniels etc?

    Terrible Efficiency

Gonna have to look into a corn meal grinder. Thanks for the idea. All I've seen at the brew shop and online looking were the roller mills

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

    Terrible Efficiency

This isn't a solution to poor efficiency but a bypass. My BIAB efficiency is terrible and I have a baby on the way so buying a mill is out. I take my gravity reading and add dme to hit my numbers.

Question about air temp in fermenting fridge

I have up to 3 carboys fermenting in a deep freezer at a time so a thermowell isn't practical. I have a 1 gallon jug filled with water that I drop the probe in and set temp to the low end of the recommended temp range. Trying to regulate the ambient temp will have the freezer running non stop...

Homemade chiller is an ugly beast. It got down to temp in 30 minutes with warm July Mississippi water

First DIY Project - Immersion Chiller

You found some good prices. I just bought everything to make one and I came in around $55. Still a little cheaper than most pre made chillers

My wife loves my new hobby (not for the beer)

Last night my wife and I were watching tv and she asked if I was going to brew Saturday. I said I can if she doesn't have something planned. Her response was "I am really behind on my tv shows and need to binge watch shows you hate on the big screen". I'm off to the LHBS tomorrow. I hope she...

    World Class

Don't get me wrong, if I had a single wish it would be having those two beers on tap forever. I still think my homebrew is better according to my tastes.

    World Class

I am new to homebrew, I have four batches under my belt. I recently tried two "world class" rated IPAs according to Beer Advocate. Jai Alai IPA and Titan IPA. They were delicious, but I think my homebrew is better. Am I delirious or do I have a case of I did it my self so it is better to me...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

I'm sure most of your start ups and small established breweries are far below that threshold.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

In the comments of an article about the Small BREW Act someone posted a comment saying "they are just trying to give craft brewers like Samuel Adams a break while Bud, miller, and coors suffer" I almost spit my beer out
