    Watery Mead

Just guessing here, but I'd say the most likely scenario is that the hydromel is just thinner in body than what you expected. Hydromels have a higher water/honey ratio than standard meads, which can make it thinner. It will probably be fine once it is carbonated, just maybe not exactly what was...

Divorce and eventual relocation to Oahu Hawaii

I've moved from Arkansas to Denver and back and it can be a pain. I can think three things I'd recommend: 1. An official copy of your birth certificate and your ss card. Ideally your passport as well. Different states have different rules for establishing your identity and I can assure you...

20 amp circuit, 15 amp outlets. What to do?

Ok, that helps. Someone with more expertise might correct me, but I think the converter will not work because it will be pulling more amps than the converter (15) will allow. If you don't want to change the outlet, you can look at changing the plug instead. Here's a link to help with that...

20 amp circuit, 15 amp outlets. What to do?

Ok. Does the plug on your equipment have the side bar, or will it fit into the outlet? If it fits, then your good to go. Also, the wiring "should" be sized properly in the wall if it is a 20 amp outlet on a 20 amp breaker.

20 amp circuit, 15 amp outlets. What to do?

Are you certain the outlet is only 15 amp? The bottem picture seems to say that it is 20 amp. Also how close to 20 amps are you going to be pulling?

    Honeysuckle Brew

I made the wine that Yooper posted (Jack Keller's) last year and I really enjoyed it. I used the steeping method and thought it had a good flavor. I could see it being easily overwhelmed in a beer, so I would definitely go with something simple grain wise. I think if I were to do it personally...

My beer has no alcohol... why?

I think you're asking the wrong question which is leading to the confusion. You should be asking why you didn't hit your target OG, not why there is so little alcohol. There weren't actually any extra sugars in your wort because they didn't get converted from the grain. The sap only made up for...

My beer has no alcohol... why?

I would question whether there was a stuck fermentaion for some reason (high OG?) that just looked like it was active. When you carbed, did you bottle carb or keg? Also, how sweet is a "hint" of sweetness? Just curious, as a sugary sweetness could imply unfermented sugar.

    Removing stitches DIY

It's easy and (typically) painless. Just make sure you're confident that it is healed, it's no fun when they pop back open!

What Do You Do to Keep Your Mind Off Beer When You Can't Drink?

I know how you feel, I'm a month into a doctor ordered 6 month temperance movement, and it sucks. The best things I've found are things like carbonated water or dry ginger ale. Not the same, but I've found it helps with the craving.

    refractometer / hydrometer

Do you mean why is one 10.8 and the other 1.046? 10.8 is the brix and 1.046 is the specific gravity. Two different ways of measuring the sugars, kinda like Celsius and Fahrenheit. The refractometer usually has two scales on it, one measuring s.g. and the other measuring brix.

    Immediate help needed, please

Personally, I would forget about the priming solution and try to get some carbonating tabs from amazon or your lhbs. The beer should be fine in the bottles for the few days it would take to get them and they would make it much simpler to carbonate at this point without much risk of bombs.

    yogurt culture

My wife and I make quite a bit of yogurt. We use Chobani or Fage interchangeably. We absolutely hated Oikos when we tried it. We also freeze about half a cup of our fresh made yogurt to act as a starter for our next batch.

    Top/Bottom honey suppliers

Thanks, I've definitely considered Dutch Gold because of their prices. Do you like their product as well or is it mostly because they are local to you?

    Top/Bottom honey suppliers

Hello, I just bottled my first mead and am itching to make more. I just order 12 lbs of orange blossom honey from the Bee Folks and the process of locating a supplier showed there were a lot of options out there. So my questions are: 1. What places have you ordered from and had either...

    Strange cleaning issue--sidewalk chalk residue

Just wondering if anything has helped so far, curious to see how it turns out? Also, if I'm not mistaken, chalk is alkaline not acidic and may need an acid to disolve it. Not saying the lye wouldn't work, just that an acid might work better.

Anyone ever been injured at work? How to deal?

Man, I hate to hear that for you. I had to leave work in 2012 due to health issues. Doctors ordered me not to work. I was 29 years old at the time and quite active as well. Things still haven't resolved and I'm still struggling to get approved for disability. All that to say, I can get where you...

Sanitize nazis will they die eventually?

I've not had a single drink tonight, but this post is making me giggle like a schoolgirl. I don't know who/what got your panties in a wad, but wow. Not trying to make fun, it's just hard to take it serious when you call people Nazis and fire off both barrels.
