    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

Yeah, I would avoid this hop all together this year, I brewed a wheat beer and just put it in a keg to start carbonating and it was almost undrinkable. I only used .5 Amarillo and .5 Citra at flameout and it tastes SUPER grassy, absolutely no tropical fruit or citrus what so ever. Dont think I...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

awesome, thanks for the quick response, so I am confused on the HOP additions, is this only a 15 min boil? It says a hop addition is 1.25 ounces at 15 mins then the First Wort Hop of .75 oz when is this added? Also, I have some confusion with the dry hopping, 3 ounces of Citra at 5-7 days...

first double IPA kegging time frame

Thanks Topher, sounds like I was on the right track with what I was going to do to start with but I wanted to make sure, that is some good info on the dry hopping. I want to dry hop in the keg, I think that will be the best plan of attack, I only have 2 kegs so I will just have to bottle on...

first double IPA kegging time frame

So I brewed my first double IPA on June 26th, now here is some background on the brew my OG came out to 1.110, I am making 3 dry hop additions, 1st with 15 days left, 1 with 10 days left and the last with 5 days left before kegging. I guess my question is how long should I wait before I keg...

    Rehydrating Yeast

I know this question comes up a million times but I have been using all of these calculators and none of them have an option for just rehydrating the yeast only calculations for starters. I guess here is my question, I am about to brew a beer with an OG of 1.061 and the calculators say I would...

Is a double stage batch sparge process better than a single stage batch sparge?

Is a double stage batch sparge process better than a single stage batch sparge?

I know this is an old post but when you guys are doing a double sparge what is your grain/water ratio for the mash? I am doing a heavy beer (19.5lbs of grain) and I want to double sparge (never done it) to increase my efficiency. A lot of the calculators have me at 10.5 gallons of water...

Can someone explain this? I am reading the recipe and I understand putting the hops at flame out with 0 mins in the boil but what is the steeping process? Does it mean throw all of the hops below in the kettle at flame out lower the temp to around 180 and whirl pool rest of them in? At...

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

So I am brand new to this MASSIVE thread but the clone on the first page is the most up to date from all the research right and then the comments are people make tweaks to it right? Does the person that started it just go back and edit it all the time?
