    Lakewood Temptress Milk Stout Recipe?

Does anyone have an idea of where to start with coming up for an all grain recipe for the Lakewood Temptress beer out of Dallas, TX? It's a milk stout with vanilla. Best stout I have ever had.

Did I screw up? - All Grain Mash Question

So I took a FG today and it was 1.010. I believe Beer Smith estimated the FG to be 1.020. I thought with the amount of caramel malt I used it wouldn't drop as low as 1.010 even though I messed up letting the first runnings drop below 140 degrees. The OG was 1.081... Making this about a 9.3%...

Help with Imperial Milk Stout Recipe

I wound up brewing an imperial red ale instead because I had just brewed an extract milk stout so I figure I'll wait another month or so before I brew this up. Will let you know then.

Did I screw up? - All Grain Mash Question

Thanks for all of the replies. I have a milk crate I use to transport the full carboy. I only use the handle when I'm cleaning the carboy in the sink. I will update y'all in the next month or so on the first bottle tasting.

Did I screw up? - All Grain Mash Question

Thank you for the information. I'm glad to see that. I know the crystal malts are a little higher than normal but I figured with the high ABV(~8%) and high IBU(~75) it would help balance everything out. The Post boil OG was 1.081 which was 80% efficiency from BeerSmith which I was really happy...

Did I screw up? - All Grain Mash Question

It may have dropped even lower that 140... I'm not sure because I didn't check the temp of it again.

Did I screw up? - All Grain Mash Question

So I did an all grain batch yesterday which I was trying to do an Imperial IPA with a good body (mash around 154). The mash temp was right on for an hour but after I collected the first runnings I left the first running sitting in my kettle until I collected my two batch sparges after the...

Help with Caramel Wheat IPA Recipe

Or should I use a different yeast like Wyeast 1056 American? Not sure if the "minerally" taste of the London ale will be good for this beer?

Help with Caramel Wheat IPA Recipe

Forgot to mention that I will be using: Wyeast 1028 London ale yeast bc I have it laying around. I figure the lower attenuation will help get the slight sweetness I'm looking for too

Revolver Blood & Honey Clone? (1st attempt)

This sounds awesome. I might try to brew this in the next month or so. I assume you are in the DFW area... Have you tried the Lakewood Temptress Imperial Milk Stout? It's really good and I am trying to come up with a clone recipe for it to. I'd like to run it by a few people to see if they...

Help with Imperial Milk Stout Recipe

So after running everything through BeerSmith I have made a few changes to hit my numbers. My recipe now looks like this: 13 lbs 2 row Pale malt 1 lb flaked oats 1 lb Caramel 60 1 lb Chocolate Malt 0.5 lb roasted barley 1 oz Columbus hops 60 min 1 oz Horizon hops 15 min 1 lb lactose 10 min 2...

Help with Imperial Milk Stout Recipe

I am hoping for around 8-9% ABV. I have been told the same thing on the roasted barley so I will probably use 0.5 lb of it. I also will go with caramel 60 to get more of a solid caramel flavor because I figure the chocolate malt and barley will give some bittersweet taste too. Plan on just...

Help with Imperial Milk Stout Recipe

Ok, I'll probably use east kent goldings then. I was going to add the extract to the bottling bucket during bottling. But I could do beans too. How much vodka do you soak them in and how long? Also do you add the beans and all of the vodka to the secondary? Could I just add it straight to the...

Help with Imperial Milk Stout Recipe

I am trying to make an imperial milk stout that is close to the one from the Lakewood Brewing Company in Dallas, TX. It's called the Temptress. It's a very good imperial milk stout with chocolate, coffee, and vanilla tastes. I'm not sure if I should use caramel 80 or 60 and what the reason would...
