Stained some equipment with Star-San!? Am I Okay to still use it.

I guess I mixed the solution to stout, but I followed the directions of 1oz to 5gallons. Am I okay to still use this equipment? It was my 7 foot tubing for bottling and syphoning and my bottling bucket.:drunk:

Am I doing enough to sanitize??????

I haven't brewed with my equipment in a long time. Needless to say I slacked off and didn't clean my equipment that well that last time I used it before I stored it. SWMBO had some doing in that one. Well she has agreed to let me start brewing again (misses the cream ale), so I am trying to...

    Amarillo, TX Homebrewers?

Anybody on this board from Amarillo, TX? Just wandering who else might be from around my area that brews beer.

    Brewing this weekend!!!!

I found a few people here in Amarillo that brew (so much for being the lone ranger) and they are wanting to brew this weekend. So I ordered the Watermelon Ale from Williams Brewing that I will be brewing and one guy is going to be brewing an all grain, which will be a great learning experience...

Instructions on building an AG brew rig?

Does anybody know of a good website that shows you step by step how to build a basic brew rig including all the parts and supplies you would need? I have recently started thinking about getting into the AG side of brewing instead of extract. It has me very intrigued to say the least.

    There isn't anything better!!!!

Than enjoying a case of your very own homebrew (Imperial Cream Ale) on a warm Spring day with a few friends smoking out some ribs and brisket and watching the NCAA Tournament (even though my boys did lose today, Go 'Horns!). I have to admit, the beer came out great and the friends and family...

Weis Beer tastes like 80 proof liquor!

I brewed a Lemon-coriander weis beer from Midwest a couple of weeks ago and decided to add the 1% alcohol boost that I had forgotten to use in my chocolate-raspberry stout from the day before. Well with that said I tasted a little of the weis from out of the secondary this past weekend and it...

A glass of my very first home brew!!!!!

It is an Imperial Cream Ale from Midwest. Sat in the Primary for 1 week, secondary for about 2 weeks and then in the bottle for a little over two weeks before I broke down and stuck one in the fridge (couldn't wait any longer). I think it looks great and it tastes great too!:ban: :mug:

    Great Brew Weekend!!!!

Well, I was quite busy this weekend. I brewed a batch of Chocolate Raspberry Stout on Saturday and brewed a batch of Lemon-Corriander Wheat beer and bottled my Imperial Cream Ale on Sunday. Now it's back to waiting again. I'll try and take some pictures tonight of the two primaries fermenting...

What is my ABV with these readings

Well, as you may have read I broke my hydrometer before I could take my FG before racking to secondary. However before I broke it I did take an OG reading and came up with an OG reading of 1.046. Well, I just got home from Dallas and found my two extract kits, 6.5 glass carboy and my NEW...

    Heading to Dallas.....

Well, I'm headed out to Dallas this afternoon on business. Thought i would stop by one of the local HBT's and pick up some beer bottles and maybe another extract kit. I sort of dread walking in because I know I won't get out of there without spending a few hundred dollars. Figured while I...

    Moved first beer to secondary!!!

I went home for lunch and decided to go ahead and put my first brewed beer into the secondary to clear and age. I broke my hydrometer so I don't know what the gravity is but it tasted excellent I thought. It has somewhat of a sparkling water type fizz to it (just slightly), is that alright or...

thinking of moving to secondary tonight.

Well, as I posted before I broke my hydrometer so I have no scientific way of know when my primary fermentation is complete. However the bubbling has stopped (racked to primary on Feb 21st) and was considering moving it to my secondary carboy so I could start on my Irish Stout. would this...

    First timer broke his hydrometer!?!?!?!

That being said, what is the safest period of time it is to assume that fermentation is complete. I plan on racking to a secondary carboy, but beginning Thursday I will be out of town until the following Tuesday. I made the brew on Thursday and racked to the primary at 9:30 PM and the...

Liberty Cream Ale - Fermentation Start???

I brewed up a Liberty Cream Ale last night (my first brew) and after cooling the wort I poured it into the fermentation bucket. I then took my stir spoon (which I washed and sanitized before doing this) and stirred the wort vigorously for a good minute or two. I had foam up to the top of the...

Need a little help with a brewery name.

I wanted to include my English Bull Terrier (Spuds McKenzie look-a-like) in the name somehow. Her name is Marley's General Patton and she has little brown spots all over her ears and body. So far I have come up with: Bullie Dog Brewery Spotty Dog Brewery Spotted Dog Brewery Freckled Dog...

Fixing to brew my first beer, got a question

I going to be brewing a cream ale this weekend and thought about adding some honey to it to 1) add a little sweetness to the finished product and 2) raise the ABV a bit. My question is would I add the honey during the boil, after the boil during the cooling of the wort, after the cooling of the...

Parden me for my ignorance, but....

If I had a 5/8" water hose that I wanted to use for a wort chiller what size diameter copper tubing would I need. I would assume 5/8", but the instructions I have found on the Internet for building one of these says to get 3/8" tubing? Any help would be appreciated.

How do I accomplish this... SWMBO insists on it... Help

I just ordered an extract cream ale that will arive this week and get brewed this weekend. My girlfriend asked me if I could induce orange into it. I told her that I know it is possible to add fruit to a beer during the brewing process, but wasn't sure how to do it (this is my first time...
