    Apple ale cider addition

I am gonna brew a apple ale extract kit from Midwest today. In the instructions, it says as soon as fermentation kicks off, 1 gallon of un-pasteurized/ no preservatives cider can be added in the primary. I think I want to do this, only issue is that I don't just have fruit stands and orchards...

    Steeling grains.

So I just read threw some threads and think I might be on to something here. I am doing extract batches, full 6.5 gallon boils in a keggle. Normally, I fill the keggle up to 6.5 gallons, throw the specialty grains in, bring up to 155 degree F and steep for 30 min. After reading the information...

    Possible first infection!

So I brewed this raspberry wheat for a friend. Racked into primary just like normal. Let it sit in primary two weeks, then transferred it into secondary on Saturday. This was my first time racking into a secondary, and I only did it because of the raspberry extract addition required. Now this is...

    Blow off tube size

I have just been attaching my blow off tubes the inside of a torn down/ partially assembles 3 peice airlock. I think 3/8ths is what I have been using. I want to go to the larger diameter tubing that just fits into the neck of the carboy however I am sketched out about the tube getting blown out...

    DME addition

I'm doing a old castle nut brown from Midwest tonight. This will be my first time using DME, as all my other kits have been LME. I kno I have to turn to the heat off when adding the LME to avoid burning the extract... Is this necessary with the DME?

    New co2 set-up

Just got an order in the mail last week from farmhousebrewsupply so I figured I would show everyone my new set-up. I got a 8-way distribution manifold to split my 12 psi up amongst my cornies. I also moved my co2 tank outside and put some quick disconnects on the line for changing the tank...

    Need a stir-plate

So I'm looking to buy a stir plate. I don't want to make one, I want to buy one. I want to use it primarily for 2L, 5 gallon starters, however I do have a 5L flask and would like both to work with whatever stir plate I get. Any recommendations for me?

    Yeast out the blow-off

So I brewed a Snow White wit with white labs Belgian wit yeast. OG at 1.048. Brewed last Friday 10-26, made a 1.4l starter on a stir plate. It was my first starter and I wasn't expecting it to be so fast. I started with an air-lock only to find it totally plugged and overflowing the next morning...

    MidwestSupplies S.O.S (save on shipping)

So apparently Midwest is running a 7.95 flat rate shipping for all orders. Living in Alaska, I figured it would be a good idea to take advantage of this opportunity and order 12 extract kits from them! These include: pumpkin spices ale, apple ale, old castle brown ale, maverick amber ale, rocky...

    Cold-crash between primary and secondary?

So I just brewed a raspberry wheat beer last night. It calls for a secondary fermentation in which some raspberry extract will be added. I have the luxury of cold crashing and typically do. However, this is the first time I'm going to rack into a secondary. Should I cold crash the primary to get...

    10 gallon batch fermentor

So I am thinking about doing a 10 gallon batch. I brew with lme, specialty malts, and hop additions. I assume I could just order 2 of the 5 gallon kits and make both at the same time. I am using a keggle so the 10 gallon volume shouldn't be an issue. My question is, what's the best fermenter to...

    Pipeline timeline

Hello there. So I got a question about what kind of brew-timeline I need to be running. A lil background info, I got a 19.7 cf keezer with 6 taps. Plenty of room for cold crashing and all that. I currently have 6 ball locks as well as three 6 gallon glass fermenters and one 5 gallon. I drink...

    19.7 Monster Coffin Build

Well here we are again. I built a full coffin decked out keezer from a 7.2 magic chef. I threw that sucker on Craigslist for twice as much as I thought it was worth, and that plan backfired, it sold! So now I bought a brand new 19.7 ct GE cheat freezer. I am doing just a collar on this build and...

Hello there. After falling in love with this site and looking at dozens of keezers, I have decided to attempt my own. I purchased a 7.2 cubic foot magic chef off Craigslist for 125$. I plan on doing a coffin set up. Haven't yet ordered my plumbing and conversion supplies so any input on that...
