    Minnesota FS Chugger Pump

Selling my Chugger pump as I have made some changes to my brew system. I do have an extra O-ring for it as well. Asking $65 - local pickup in the Minneapolis area preferred, or buyer pays shipping.

Minnesota Used enclosure for HERMS controls

I redid my control panel, and instead of throwing out the old, I thought I would offer it up. Just cover shipping or local pickup in Minneapolis. Hate to just throw it out if someone can use it.

My version of a dedicated HERMS

So, one of my challenges has been consistency of hitting mash temps - MN swings from summer to winter playing a part - ad wanted to try recirculating my mash. (Plus, who doesn't enjoy brew DIY projects?) Since I'm "thrifty" - @Poptarts build really caught my eye and was my inspiration for this...

So I took some pics during brew day

Well, at least when I remembered to. Thought it would be fun to track through my session and let everyone tell me what I do wrong (hopefully something is right in there) So while my wife was at work, my youngest was at a sleepover, and the oldest was still in bed (teenagers...), I had Labor...

    Masking a sour

So, the Surly AHA wort rally is a kettle soured wort, and I'm not much of a fan of sours (I signed up right away before the info on the wort was released). I'm trying to think of what I can do to make it seem more tart than sour and could really use some input. I'm thinking of using...

Yeast froze, new plan for wlp545

Well crap - had two jars of wlp545 that froze overnight, so I'm guessing they are toast. I have a 1.078 & 1.094 batches I was going to use the washed yeast for. Since it's a Belgian strain, do you think I could wash the yeast from 1.078 batch? I couldn't find much info on if Belgian strains...

So I made a GF hefe.....

Started here https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f164/dfhs-blood-orange-hefe-gluten-free-style-171390/ And this was my recipe http://hopville.com/recipe/1695369 Making the "tea" was odd, hope the wife appreciates the extra work :fro: In all seriousness, the smell was not what I was...

"Black" IPA - what do you think?

Ok, for starters, this recipe intent is to use up some malt and hops that I have leftover. This is my first try at a recipe with lots of hops (for me). I really appreciate your input! Partial Mash - 3 gallons 1.083OG 1.022FG, 94.1 IBU 3# Maris Otter 2# 2 Row 1# Flaked Oats .5#...

    Botched my hops

So I need to change how I set up my hops - last night I brewed northern's surly bender kit, but in my hast I read the order of additions wrong (I have to find something to blame such a dumb move on). So I got my .25oz willamette first wort hop in, got to the boil....and instead of the .75oz...

Well, i didnt fear the foam!

So, when I brewed this batch it was my first go with starsan. I just went to secondary on my vanilla beans, and this was the first true look for me of not fearing the foam. It is a little unnerving, but I hope this is in the spirit of the theme!

    Vanilla beans

So I am going to try doing a secondary with vanilla beans for the oatmeal stout in primary. In looking around, I'm not fully sure on the process, so thanks to everyone for helping to clarify if this is correct: Spray beans & knife with starsan Split beans lengthwise, scrape insides, and...

    Dry hopping - I learned a lesson

So - I won't be just dropping hop pellets into secondary again to dry hop. I used a muslin bag over the auto siphon and it kept clogging. Next time I think I am going to use whole hops in the bag in the secondary so I don't have that problem again. Now I also see another reason people love...
