My attempt at a "Vermont Style DIPA"

Second round of dry-hops last night and another gravity reading. This beer smells heavenly already though I think all the dry-hops are going to take away from the Conan (peachy) aroma slightly. The gravity is down to 1.022 (from 1.034 four days ago). I'm planning to keg on Tuesday which will be...

    What's your house strain(s)?

I've used US-05 exclusively up until my last batch - my first time using liquid yeast. I bought a vial of Yeastbay's Vermont Ale yeast (Conan, the Alchemist) and grew it into 6 mason jars before before brewing. Made a 2L starter from one of the jars before bewday. That yeast smells dreamy lol -...

My attempt at a "Vermont Style DIPA"

Lol dude I just realized the similarity today after stumbling on the Double Sunshine clone. Admittedly, I'm sure I saw that same recipe earlier-on when I was formulating this one; at that time, I had flipped through dozens of recipes and just kept a mental note of the ingredients that I thought...

My attempt at a "Vermont Style DIPA"

Right on! I'm sure it will show a decent attenuation, I was just expecting to see a good portion completed after six days - and then a slow stroll down to the target FG. I'm even stoked about the appearance of the beer already. It's super hazy and a lovely deep yellow to light orange color.

My attempt at a "Vermont Style DIPA"

Brewed this badboy last weekend and I am a little (only slightly) discouraged after six days of fermentation. Attenuation is wherein my worries lie. OG was 1.085 (I rounded up the 2-row and Vienna to 13# and 3#, respectively) and after six days in the ferm-fridge, I'm only down to 1.034...

My attempt at a "Vermont Style DIPA"

Thanks for the feedback guys!! I'm excited about this recipe. Just need to procure a burner before brewing this one - I have been doing split-boils on the kitchen stove and realized (especially with my last batch) that I'm losing efficiency during the boil. For instance, my preboil gravity last...

My attempt at a "Vermont Style DIPA"

Hey HBT'ers, After a recent trip up to VT (from MA), I can't help but be inspired! I've been brewing for about one year now and I've focused on DIPAs right from the beginning (although I did brew a session IPA that came out nice). Each batch has been based around the same recipe which is an...

    Feedback on my DIPA recipe

I'm definitely going to consider Munich for the next DIPA. Not sure if anyone on here has ever used Irish Ale Malt as a base malt but the stuff is delicious. I don't think many shops carry it.

    Feedback on my DIPA recipe

This one finished pretty warm. I didn't get any residual sweetness like I have in the past. A lot of hoppy-goodness and a great scent from the malts but a bit too thin on the malt to back-up the booze. I have it set at 20psi and will check it out in a couple days. Hoping the carbonation will...

    Feedback on my DIPA recipe

As for the Crystal, I definitely want the color. I cut back for this one compared to my previous batches - was getting mega-sweetness. I haven't tasted the gravity sample yet because I'm waiting for a co-brewer to arrive. I'll leave a note on the un-carbed sample

    Feedback on my DIPA recipe

Holy cow right now! This beer came down to 1.014 - that's an 82% attenuation woohoooo!! 9.53%abv with the 'alternate' calculator on Brewersfriend.com. I must admit, this batch had the best 'looking' fermentation I've ever seen. About 4.5gals made it to the keg, surprisingly, considering the...

    Feedback on my DIPA recipe

Hey all, I'm going to be kegging my latest DIPA tonight and I'd like to share the recipe with the community for any possible feedback/suggestions. The recipe is a slight variation of Avery's Maharaja. Target OG 1.082 Target FG 1.021 Efficiency 69% SRM 11.67 IBU 119.08 18# Irish Ale...

    Dough-in Temp

Thank you all for the insight and the links to calculators and such!! The above mentioned beer is churning away in the maiden voyage of my fermentation chamber - fridge with a diy temp controller and heating pad. Hoping for a happy hoppy brew. Next test is to keg and carb with co2 - I force...

    Dough-in Temp

Hey all, newbie here. So, after having brewed just under a dozen DIPA's, I shot for a sessionable hoppy pale ale yesterday. Grain bill was 10# on the dot as opposed to the usual 20ish# for a DIPA. My concern is this: I am used to doughing-in 20# of grain at 164F to achieve about 152F once all...

    National Homebrew Day Giveaway!

I bought a home last year and planted 2varieties of hops. When it was time to harvest, I decided I would buy some gear and brew with my homegrown hops. I went all-grain right from the jump and shot for an Imperial IPA. Well, I'm about 10 batches deep at this point and there is no turning back...
