It was cold probably 45 or so. I'm definitely not getting the horsepower you guys are saying you are having.

    SQ-14 didn't keep a boil

I had 3/4 of a tank, albeit a couple years old. I did adjust the air disc several times from wide open, to 1/2 choked to ..well anything under might as well been birthday candles under the thing. I didn't know you could adjust the height of the burner...I'll have to look at it again. It...

    SQ-14 didn't keep a boil

I started off with approx 5 gallons of wort which the unit did eventually get to a boil. At the end of the 60 min boil, it wasn't even boiling...is this normal? I tried adjusting the air intake, and everything else was wide open. Nothing would get this thing to boil again. Granted I had a...

    Ok my thermometer sucks

With all my ingredients it registers 250 at a rolling boil. I steeped my grains at what should have been 155 but with that room for error probably 120 or so. I steeped 1/2 lb 2 row and 1/2 lb of wheat. It's an extract kit purchased from AHB. (I know I don't get the 2 row either). Question is...

    Low starting gravity?

If it's an extract kit, you filled your wort up with water to hit your 5 gallon mark. You then mostly likely took your reading, but all the heavy wort was on the bottom while your lighter water was resting on top. It does mix some when your adding your water, but not equally. If it's an AG...

    Homebrew Kegerator Conversion Kit Suggestion??

my apologies, as I reread the original post, I totally missed the part of you already having the equipment. So just a shank and connecting pieces. How about these. http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=303 http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=131

    SNPA Recipe Critique Please

I put this together in beersmith, but I don't believe the color one bit though. I'm looking for as light (in color) pale ale w/o doing late additions. What is a more accurate SRM color? My wort will be between 4.5-5 gallons. (I have a 6 gallon pot) Type: Extract Date: 3/31/2011...

    Malt Extracts Color Effect Taste?

I've got to a point in my extract beer making that I'm happy with the beer taste that is being produced, but the last hurdle I can't seem to beat is color. They all come out a very dark brown. I'm not going AG yet, I know this would fix the problem, but here is my question: Does malt...

what fryer would be best to get?

sq-14 has a squared off stand, where the sp-10 is three legged. they are fantastic to talk to if you have any questions, no automated service, a real live human picks up...(unheard of now) 800-736-8028 After talking to them a few months ago, I went with the SQ-14, but there are dozens of...

    time to upgrade from mr.beer

I would recommend checking out Austin Home Brew, Northern Brewer, or Midwest Supplies. Their service is very good, and their instructions are even better than the Brewers Best. I Brewed a Brewers Best kit with a friend for his first time batch, and I was glad I was there because their...

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

How many coolant lines are running on top of this fridge? Several? They seem awfully close together too, worries me. I think I would prefer my tap centered in the middle, but if you have found that there are typically less coolant lines somewhere else on the top, I will start digging there...
