    Simcoe hops

Small local breweries may sell you some if you chat up the head brewer. Just scored a lb. of amarillo a few weeks ago.

    Couple Beersmith questions..

With regard to inventories being subtracted, when you have the recipe page up on the screen, look to the upper left control buttons. The second one in says "remove from inventory" It will then subtract form your total inventory. Have a great brew day!

    Dry Hopping question

Ditto on racking through the bag. Work like a champ. Have a Pliney the Elder going with 8 ozs. dry hops right now. Can't wait to keg!!!!! UGGHHH!!!!

Seriously? Give me a break with the hops already.

Never had the real thing but...I'm on my 3rd round of a Pliney clone. 19 oz of tear your face off hops in mine! I prefer mine mashed low for dry finish. This time I have a little more malt backbone to smooth it out. I love hops! Just unloaded 4 lbs. into the freezer!

Does White Wheat Malt Get Milled?

I always mix my grains together, and seem to get a good crush on everything with factory settings on my BC. I'm always open to trying new methods though.

    Vorlauf techniques

I use a pump to vorlauf/clear the first runnings to set the bed. I recirculate it slowly with about 10 mins left for mash. When it comes time to sparge, I use a cover from and old LME pail. Coffee can lids work great too.

New barley crusher - rate my crush

Just the o-ring that helps "spin" the 2 grinding surfaces. Not needed. Mine lasted about that long as well. The grain will do the job on its own. Cheers~!

Central MA/Central CT Group grain buy ??

I feel the same way about the HBS charging huge mark-ups. Don't forget to chat up your local craft breweries. We have one up here in Haverhill that sells MO for $32 and Weyermann Pilsner for $35 for 55#. Just my 2c.

Looking for some folks to brew with in Lawrence, MA!

Hi, I'm relatively new at all-grain brewing. I have done 4 all-grain batches. I am still dialing this in. If you have been brewing for a while and want to help out a noob, please drop me a PM. I have an outdoor setup with 3 keggles, a march pump, and a therminator. I'm looking to see if...
