It is funny how some forums work alike. The linked thread started in 2008. 80,000+ replies and it is still going strong. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/nuke-this-my-mistake.390479/ We got some catching-up to do. :mug:

Drinking my first brew of Jun Kombucha... I got buzzed for sure

2% is the typical strength of table beer, which is (was?) often served to children.

    Asking Local Brewery for Yeast

Asking to buy is being polite. Most people, when confronted with a polite offer to buy something that is usually considered a waste product will go ahead and give it to you for free. However when asked to provide the same thing for free, that same person is likely to say no. Even if you end up...

    Priming/carbing troubles

Why are you putting a 20oz bottle back in the fridge? It should be empty once you pour it into a glass (if not, then you need a bigger glass). The amount of priming sugar isn't excessive. Are you sure that fermentation was complete before you began bottling?

Partially carbonated beer coming out of my primary

Some CO2 gets dissolved into the beer during fermentation. Gases are solubile in water (and other liquids), which is also why fish are able to use the dissolved oxygen in water to breathe (the oxygen atoms that are part of the water molecule are bound, and not available for respiration). When...

Please DO NOT mix chlorine bleach with ANY acid at home EVER! Some very light reading for you: http://chemistry.about.com/od/toxicchemicals/a/Mixing-Bleach-And-Vinegar.htm You may not be dying, but you are risking permanant damage to your lungs. Even at low exposure rates you can do harm that...

    Stopping Carbonation in Bottles?

Did you make sure that fermentation was done before you bottled?

You can file a claim for shipping damage. They can inspect, but they can't damage the contents during the inspection.

My cusory look at his setup led me to believe that was exactly what he was doing.

    Closed Loop Wort Cooling System

The chiller he is using can rapidly cool incoming liquids down to -10C. I think it'll manage keep the recirculating water cold enough to drop the wort temp.

Faucet Question: Is it Stainless or Chrome Plated?

Stainless has a slightly blue tint, where chrome plating does not. Stainless is slightly dull when compared to chrome (even when the stainless is highly polished). Based on the photo I think that is a chrome plated faucet, but it's still inthe bag, and the differences between the two are...

    Shipping bottles

I like to make custom fitted padding by using plastic bags as a liner and expanding foam to fill the dead space in the box. I do a two-part pour of foam so the upper portion can be pulled off of the top of the bottles, and the bottles can then be pulled out of the lower foam block. I sometimes...

    First Brew

I just bottled a batch of this today. My measured OG was 1.060, and measured FG was 1.010 after 16 days. Definitely go ahead and take a few FG readings before bottling just to be sure that it's done.

    Blackberry beer

Boysenberries would be a better choice if you want to avoid the sourness (McMenamins Purple Haze wheat beer was a favorite of mine years ago). Otherwise I'd carefully choose very ripe blackberies if you can pick them yourself.
