    BRY-97 pitching rate

I'm doing an IPA that will be about 5.5% abv. How many grams of this should I pitch for 5 gallons? Thank you for your input.

Time to change the Picnic Facuet???

I'm going to be getting into kegging soon, like your setup as it fits my situation. Out of curiosity, how often do you have to clean the lines?

Commercial Beer Masquerading as Craft Beer -- Help Keep List Up-to-Date

Me too, I bought a case of it at Costco and my 24 y/o son won't even drink it!

Agree! And, WTH did they do to the Vienna lager?

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I checked the code and GFCI is definitely is not required for a 240 volt circuit here in Loudoun County, Va. However, I agree with you and I would feel much safer with it, and although you say "easy to install," I can't find a 240 volt gfci receptacle anywhere. Since they are not on Amazon, I...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

For what it's worth, when I bought my Foundry I had an electrician come out and install a 240 volt circuit in the brew area of my basement and he didn't install a GFCI circuit. When I questioned this he said, "the code doesn't require it." So I said, "I don't give a crap about the code, I just...

Suggestions for the equipment $500-$600 range.

I'm relatively new to brewing also and have numerous lessons learned. The two positive things that I've done is buy a decent basic brewing kit for about $150 that even came with a recipe kit of ingredients and I bought John Palmer's book 'How to Brew.' I did a couple of these extract brews...

Cleaning in prep for an all grain batch, and found this.

So, does it hurt to circulate boiling water through the pump? I have an Anvil and was always wondering if I could do that?

I checked it out but see no place to enter lactic or phosphoric acids?

Really need help with understanding water chemistry calculators

I feel your pain! I spent hours trying to download and make sense of Bru n' Water with lots of help from the kind folks on this forum. The .dat issue alone is enough to drive a somewhat computer savvy person crazy. And then, I realized that the version that I was sent and downloaded, even...

    Water addition recommendations please

I hate to be so ignorant, but I struggled with chemistry in high school and never have been very proficient with Excel :-) I really appreciate you guys working with me. I'm not sure why I can't get my water input to balance?

    Water addition recommendations please

Does this look right? So, the bottom line is that would add .4ml phosphoric acid; 1 gram/gal gypsum; 1 gram/gal calcium chloride?

I gave it another go, does this look right?:

    Water addition recommendations please

Thanks. I got the report from National Testing Laboratories. I'll try to not be so overwhelmed by the program and try to play around with it some more.

    Water addition recommendations please

I have played around with Bru N' Water but can't figure it out. For example, the input that the program asks for is different terminology from the water report that I listed above. The program asks for carbonates and bicarbonates, etc.

    Water addition recommendations please

I've read a lot about water chemistry from Palmer and others. I've subscribed to Bru N'Water, etc. and I still can't quite figure it out as far as telling me exactly what to add. I'm set on using my well water because (1) it's readily available; and (2) it's the best water I've ever tasted. I...

    Racking to bottling bucket

Thank you, appreciate your input. It doesn't offend me at all as long as it doesn't affect flavour. Will it?

    Racking to bottling bucket

My fermenter bucket has a spigot in the bottom and I usually just attach sanitized tubing, open spigot, and gently gravity feed into bottling bucket. This batch that I have in fermentor now has trub and yeast that seems to be up to and ~ 1/4" past the spigot outlet. Will it hurt if this goes...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Steak and beer, what more can you ask for? I've been wanting to try cooking steak with the Sous Vide method for years. I thought what better way to control water temp for 2 hours and cook some steaks than with the Anvil? So, I vacuum sealed 3 NY Strips, cooked at 130 degrees for 2 hours, and...
