    Experiment returned confusing results

When I use wheat, I'll run it through the mill alone and then again with the other grains.

    Got some moneeeey

If you are looking to go all-grain I suggest a grain mill like a barley crusher. I bought one about a year ago and it's indispensable. I'm in Whitby too (Brooklin) :)

WLP 630 Limited Release Berliner Weisse

I just did something similar yesterday but instead of a hefe I pitched WLP655 sour mix in the stronger wort and the 630 in the weaker. Really looking forward to these beers! :)

Batch Sparge Efficiency Stuck Around 65%...HELP

I was also hitting 65% for a long time until I started to adjust my mash pH and waiting longer for conversion. Using braukaiser's Efficiency analysis spreadsheet helped me discover I wasn't waiting long enough for full conversion.

    Phenolic after water chem. adjustment

Yep, I think my situation is an infection too. Beer never cleared. I think I can trace it back to the starter, but I've replaced my auto-siphon and tubing just in case.

    Phenolic after water chem. adjustment

I brewed the CYBI Mission Street pale ale 2 weeks ago and wanted to try my hand at build a water profile from scratch and the beer is phenolic in both taste and aroma. Its at the FG and I've moved to secondary for dry hopping. I know I screwed up the adjustments after doing more research...

    Dryhopping question

I have a clone of Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale that I’ve dry hopped with 3oz of hops. Bottling should be this weekend (it’s been dry hopping for a week now and a month in the primary) but earlier this week, I decided to get a kegging setup. It’s a 3 keg system from Kegconnection.com and it...

    Weizenbock help

A friend and I are planning a Weizenbock in a couple of weeks and I have a few questions. With 7.5kg of grain, brewsmith is telling me to mash in with 19.5L of water, mash-out with 11L and sparge with 3L... It it really worth it to sparge with only 3L of water? Is it going to do anything...

Strong Bitter Captain Hooked on Bitters (Red Hook Clone & Award Winner)

I brewed this up on March 6th and bottled it up last week. Just tried one and holy cow, this is a great tasting beer! It's going to be hard waiting a few weeks for them to mature :) Great recipe BierMuncher!

Missed preboil OG according to BeerSmith

Wouldn't each running be a different density? I always stir the pot for awhile before collecting a sample to measure the OG

    Is this enough yeast

Just an update, the brew went great. Hit all the numbers and it's been in the fermenter for almost 12h. I pitched the entire 1L starter and it took off within hours Here is what it looks like now http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/ae180/johngie/001.jpg Thanks everyone!

    Is this enough yeast

My 3 year old is having her birthday party Sunday, I doubt SWMBO would like her to have a "Let's learn to brew with Daddy Party" instead of the Princess Dress-up party planned :) Time to test the 12-18 hour theory I guess :)

    Is this enough yeast

Yeah, that's what I've done now. Next question... I am chilling the starter wort now and will add the yeast shortly. Is it enough time for the yeasts to do their thing if I want to brew tomorrow afternoon? Thanks for the help guys!

    Is this enough yeast

Last step up was 4oz of DME in 500ml in water Do I just make a starter of 8-10oz of DME and 1.5L of water at this point? First time harvesting yeast and making a starter. Thx
