    Old Hops (I think cascade)

So about two years ago now I managed to get a good amount of fresh hops that a buddy was growing, he vacuum sealed them and I put them in my freezer. They were actually for infused hard spirits (I was going to infuse a gin, vodka, and whiskey) but the cocktail program at my work took a different...

    First Cider in Years

I thought that seemed a little low as well, the kit didn't give me a start gravity only that it's supposed to end at 1.004

    First Cider in Years

So I bought one of those cider house select kits to make a 6 gallon batch. I used distilled water, an eyeballed 2lbs of dextrose (I made this at 3 am after work and couldn't find my scale), and followed the directions for the most part. I didn't boil the water to dissolve the corn sugar (it did...

    Foreclosed Brewery Grains (worth it?)

I've pitched the offer so I am waiting to hear back and see if they accept. If they do I will contact everyone who has said they are interested and I will get info and what they want and I'll let you know if I can pull it off.

    Foreclosed Brewery Grains (worth it?)

I brewed all grain 1 gallon batches when I was to young to legally purchase beer. Many years have passed and now I've got my own house and other "adult" things. So why not? I show up with that much grain and the wife won't even be able to deny me the ability to do it

    Foreclosed Brewery Grains (worth it?)

The grains are actually store in a shipping container out back. So they have been there for a minimum of three months with southwest Michigan countryside heat. Would it already be a lost cause then?

    Foreclosed Brewery Grains (worth it?)

My other concern is, if he counters my offer, at what point is it no longer worth the cost? I'll also be making a 3 hour drive there to pick it up. I don't currently brew all grain but it's in the works over the next month or so if I can find some good used equipment

    Foreclosed Brewery Grains (worth it?)

So while I was driving home to Chicago from Detroit I found this brewery that had just been foreclosed on in the middle of the country. The bank who is trying to sell the place just so happened to be giving a tour to a prospective buyer. After he was done he showed me around for a bit and let me...

Do we need watch who we respond too?

Thank You! Now I'm into all grain, propane burners, and oak barrels! Good luck doing that as a minor unless your parent brews!

Do we need watch who we respond too?

Not that I am promoting it but I am just barely 21. I started when I was 18 because making beer isn't like being a dumb drunk teen. It's science and experimentation and it's a pain in the butt unless you really like doing it. If they are going to be dumb and ask about table sugar and bread yeast...

Coriander "ham" flavor from previous batch?

One of my local microbreweries (Kuhnhenn) had the same tast with their witbier, it reminded me of summer sausage. Its most likely the corriander, I found it to be kind of pleasing to be honest, like drinking and eating in one.

Burner, i just use a turkey fryer

Here is the route I would go http://www.homebrewing.org/14-Propane-Burner--220000-BTU_p_1190.html 220,000 BTU so you can do your small batches and get it up to boil quick, or do some larger batches and this thing almost sips propane for how big it is.

Please help me name my brewery!

You cant just come up with a name like it was nothing, it needs meaning. I have been pondering this concept for several months now and still have not settled on something. When the time comes you will know. till then worry about making good beer!

    Accidental crash during 2nd day

Luckily for me Michigan is a huge polish state (and I am a huge ******) so I actually have access to ample supplies of polish spring water from hamtramck and wyandotte, we actually have a polish cultural center in my city. Thank You for the recipe! Looks like I am pulling out the smoker for...

    Boil Pot?

I am not sure how much turkey fryers are in your area but they average a good $55-65 which in reality is not all that much especially since youre getting 54,000 BTU (Give or take depending on the model) Which would be perfect for batches big and small but I would suggest saving up a little bit...

Will some corn sugar in beer make it taste bad?

Youre beer is going to be fine, it may impact the body but in such a small amount that you probably wont notice. Youre just boosting the ABV
