    Signs of carbonation

Very curious... whats the association between the level of carbonation and the settling? Won't the remaining yeasts settle in a flat beer as well? Thanks.

    First Brew Done, Some questions...

That video was so awesome. Made me absolutely nuts though as it's making me so anxious to try my first batch that was just bottled Saturday (3 days ago). Maybe I'll make a video just to justify my incremental tests. :cross:

Where should I buy a kegging kit from?

http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=22 I'm not jumping into this right away, but am seriously considering it. If i was to get the kit above: - is a 10lb tank preferred? - what is the best storage for these once they are full of beer? what is the cheapest yet effective way...

    Kaboom!

As I do the math, I'm guessing the 3" of old cane goes into your airlock as you are using the same size tubing as a siphon?

    Curious...vigorous fermentation

    Curious...vigorous fermentation

It's a blast! But as for the temperature I have the stick on Fermometer :) and thats where I was shocked that it went from approx. 66 deg to about 69 overnight when the environmental temp was very steady. I'm a little nervous about swapping out the lock at this aggressive point of...

    Curious...vigorous fermentation

I'm looking all over the place for a specific explanation as to what is going on with my beer besides the fact that it's fermenting like crazy. I brewed/pitched on Sunday and fermentation started in less than 12 hours. In day two now and I checked on it before I left for work and YOWZA...

    Kaboom!

Thank you Beer... I saw that pic and will more than likely be getting the larger tube as I really want to do a hefe next.

    Kaboom!

Instead of staring a new thread, I thought I would pose this question... - If you have a 6.5gal carboy and a 3 piece airlock for primary, does that really cut down on fermentation explosions... using a Hefe as the topic as it seems that Hefe's are firey when it comes to initial fermentation...

    So pumped!

It was indeed... it got even better when I checked my IPA that I brewed yesterday... Lets just say my yeasties were getting it on last nite and there was already foam and airlock activity! Learning my first lesson in patience however.... can not WAIT to try my summer ale. ;)

    Really bad... :)

    So pumped!

Great weekend... besides the weather, I bottled my first batch crafted by my own hand. The DME recipe was from my LHBS called Summer Solstice Light Ale. I got my bottle of StarSan in on Friday afternoon which made things VERY easy as far as the cleaning/sanitizing of the bottles went. The...

    Dry Humping question

LOL I'm literally laughing out loud in my office. The video sealed the deal.

    Um... silly question?

Thank you guys. This all makes sense with the weeks worth of information I have been gathering from this site :drunk:

    Um... silly question?

So... for equipment I got everything I need for extract brewing... 2 carboys (6g & 5.5g), bottling bucket, autosiphon, brushes, hoses, funnel, 2 stoppers/airlocks, yada yada yada. I have a summer ale in the 6g fermenter now. It is going to be bottled this weekend. My question... the...

    Stinky First batch

I actually ran into this same issue with the first batch of Brown Ale that I did with my friend. It was feremented too cold and we bottled after one week. The result was bottling w/o taking hydrometer readings and the beer was still fermenting in the bottles which made for quite an adventure...

    No change?

Update... Now on day 9 in primary fermenter.... NOOOO activity in airlock (my wine thief has not been delivered yet!). The beer is a really nice color, the kraussen is pretty much gone and the trub(?) is getting thicker. I see the lace left by the kraussen and some yeast dropping out...
