Do You Buy From Northern Brewer?

The poor turn around (and bogus reasons) before the buyout, almost lost me. But InBev corrected that problem by my next order. New ownership has done several things I don't like (new website, emptying my cart, charging for milling), but shipping has improved significantly.

Do You Buy From Northern Brewer?

Yes, I buy from NB. There is no LHBS. I used to buy from a regional HBS as much as possible, but Barley & Vine closed. SWMBO wants organic. I want LME. Since Seven Bridges closed, NB/MW are the only suppliers of homebrew quantities (6 lb and 3.15 lbs) of organic LME. NB seems to have the...

Any benefits to boiling more than 60 minutes?

I brewed a clone of Shmaltz Sweet Sixteen. Shmaltz wrote: "Once you get to the kettle portion that is where things got weird- we had 16 different hop additions spaced 16 minutes apart, ...., but a good long boil is going to help you really evaporate off a lot of that disgusting water that will...

    Redhook Longhammer harvest?

No, I haven't harvested. But, Redhook's house yeast is supposedly WLP041, and WLP041 is supposedly related to Fuller's.

    Bourbon chips

Bourbon is aged for a dozen +/- years in wood. That wood is often repurposed as beer barrels. Your chips are young. If oak, then a lot of the "vanilla" will come from the chips.

    Clone Beers

All of my clone attempts have been for beers that I have had, many from local grocery and liquor stores. [Though more recently, I've gone after one-offs and harder to get.) Austin Homebrew Supply probably has the biggest collection. They now have the recipes online. AHS is a good source for...
