Anyone ever hear rumors that hop suppliers will falsely label hops?

I have not. At least I hope not. What online retailer did you use that this happened? There is a chance that they just mislabeled the bag in the first place and you got your blanc hops. If not then that is a serious problem that you should address. It reminds me of illegal diluting of spirits...

Trip to the US, what breweries to visit?

Honestly DC is not a great scene for good breweries.. There are many and none are great. Plenty of great bars though to serve beers from around the world

Using dry hop filter container during the boil

if you dry hop with them id be careful how much you put in as well. First time I ever used it I put in 4oz and there was a core of completely dry hops that never touched beer

    Purchasing Hops on line

I use YVH as well. Rarely have I had a package that lost its seal when it arrived. Lets just hope that happened during shipping. which really isn't the biggest deal. Hopefully their 2020 crop will be canned. All of the 2019 was bagged

Extract IPA into a double IPA?

I don't imagine it would work well depending on what your IBU/ABV is on just the one kit is. I would go with more of what Dgallo suggested

New guy , cheap bottling options

This is a good idea.. I remember going to a local popular spot for brunch and talking to the waiter about bottomless mimosas.. If I remember correctly they said they go through some astronomical amount like ~500 bottles a weekend! You would have no problem taking them off their hands

    Moving A Fermentor

I'm actually ready to get the shed. That might give me a chance to get another kegerator/ferm control in there Right now I have a kegerator inside.. but that's all that's allowed

    Different ABV Values

Not sure if I misunderstood the article. That article isn't about gravity reading errors. Its about them using watering down the beer to stretch their supply/sales. I would imagine they know exactly what their ABV is? and using much more advanced technology than triple scale hydrometer to...

    Moving A Fermentor

Ok well as long as you haven't opened since last dry hop and pressure has built there will be C02 in the headspace and you shouldn't have to worry. And it sounds like youre dry hopping during active fermentation so again minimal worry of oxidation. You should be fine lugging that keg to the...

    Moving A Fermentor

Wait are you spunding? If you've never opened the keg and its been under pressure there will be no O2. There wouldn't be any issue with sloshing except stirring up the trub

    Starters

Right, that's like trying to sample your fermenting wort 24 hours in.. of course its not going to taste "good" like a finished product.

    Steeping Dark Grains

Yes, unfortunately, but I will do with what I have to get as close as possible to the real thing.

    Steeping Dark Grains

Yes, just as you mentioned its hardly bitter or roasty to me as well that's why I want to minimize any harshness or bite from the dark grains. I am considering using debittered black malt alongside the roasted to darken it without the flavor
