Want to keg? Do it NOW!!!

Just started kegging actually working on my first ever kegged beer at the moment. If you are on the fence just pull the trigger already. World of difference, and oh so easy once it all setup and ready to go. Seriously do not waste anymore time bottling your beer make the switch and you will...

Tell of your past brewer self.

Buy a kegeraor like now!!! I hated bottling so bad it made me sto brewing 3 different times. I'm already a food ways into my first ever legged beer and it's only been in there for 2 days. The next thing I would tell my now brewing self is slow down....... Patience is a virtue I need to find.

not sure what is going on would like some hlep

I brewed an extract Arrogant Bastard Ale clone 10 days ago. The fermentation went crazy, first time i have ever had to use a blow off tube. It finally started calming down around day 8. I took a sample and its come down from 1.073 to 1.019. I figure I will get a few more points out of it and...

    First Sample from ABA Clone

I pulled a sample for a gravity reading today to see what the brew had gotten down to. 1.073 - 1.019 in about 8 days. It should be getting close to finished. I haven't had an arrogant bastard in a while but from what I remember this is pretty darn close to being the real deal! Will see how...

    Hungry hungry yeastos

Made a 2 l starter for the aba clone I am brewing tomorrow. It was a veery fresh vial of wlp American ale yeast and the starter has made a mess on the counter twice now. These things are hungry. I was going to cold crash it tonight and decant but with only about 1.6 liters left after boil and...

ABA Clone ?'s before brew day

So I decided to do a n ABA Clone from a recipe I found online this weekend. I just have a few questions I need answered before brew day. The recipe didn’t say but my assumption is that the 2lb of specialty grain should be steeped as usual for 30 min? What would be the proper temp…. I assume 154...

5 Gal Boil in 2 pots

I ended up boiling 2.5 gallons in one pot and adding half of the liquid extract.... boiled it for 20 minutes and then cooled and put into the fermenter. I then steeped the specialty grains in another pot, brought it to a boil, and added the other half of the liquid extract. I then proceeded...

    I think i killed my Wyeast 1332

Its all good in the asylum. I agree that conditions could not have been right considering how long it lagged. Im pretty sure I shocked the yeast considering the temp changes it went through in about a 6 hour period and that was my fault. At least its up and running. Sitting around 72 degrees...

    I think i killed my Wyeast 1332

So knocking on the side of the carboy yelling wake up is not a good thing? We are at the 36 hour mark and the beer is just sitting on top of the yeast. NO krausen has built up on top of the beer. Also the yeast was def active in the smack pack, it expanded nicely over the course of a 24...

    I think i killed my Wyeast 1332

Let me start by saying i have never had a fermentation not start overnight. Only done a half dozen brews but still never had it happen. In preparation for my latest brew i did lots of reading on the forum on best practices ect. I decided to try and control the fermentation temperature by...

5 Gal Boil in 2 pots

Why could you not do both the boils in one day? Thats the only part of the texas two step that confuses me. I think a late malt addition is needed at a minimum based on what I have read just for hop utilization. What works best for everyone?
