Starsan - How long does it last and is it OK to leave tubing soaking?

I use starsan for my sanitizing. On brew day I'll make a 5 gallon bucket of it to use throughout the day. I usually keep that bucket of sanitizer for sanitizing in the following days/weeks. I've noticed that after awhile it turns cloudy - is it still effective at this point? Also, I've left...

New (graphic designer) member from sunny Florida

Welcome! That's awesome that you offer this up. My son is artistic and helps me design my labels. I have a hazy IPA I've named "Oh Yeah!" and I have him designing a label like the kool aid man breaking through the wall but replacing the kool aid man with a hop.

Does this Kegerator look worth $150

not doing it. Before I posted here, I had sent an inquiry if it was still available - Friday afternoon. This guy replied yes, send a number. I didn't reply. Saturday afternoon he sent me another message "too late dopey" So I replied that I was going to ask if it worked and if it came with...

Does this Kegerator look worth $150

Thanks everyone. I agree with all these comments. I already have 2 CO2 tanks. Considering I do small batches I will probably take Yesfan's suggestion and look for a mini fridge to convert.

Does this Kegerator look worth $150

Agreed, although I didn't want to pass it up if it was a really good price. Thanks for the reply

Does this Kegerator look worth $150

Thanks. That's what I was thinking regarding the trim but wasn't sure if the price reflected that.. Something smaller would work since I do small batches and have the 2 1/2 gallon kegs. Asking if it works is the type of thing I'd do - might have to do that.

NEIPA/Hazy brew overly bitter - undrinkable

Thanks for the input. I'll try another NEIPA in the next few weeks and try these suggestions and report back.

NEIPA/Hazy brew overly bitter - undrinkable

Thanks for the reply - I'll try that. Would the excessive bitterness be the reason there's no fruity/juicy flavor but it's still smells fruity/juicy?

How often and at what volume is everyone brewing?

    I probably average 2-3 batches a month. 2 1/2 gallon BIAB batches.

NEIPA/Hazy brew overly bitter - undrinkable

I brew small batch - 2 1/2 gal BIAB batches. I've been having a problem with NEIPA batches having extreme bitterness making the beer undrinkable. Often the beer has the proper aroma - fruity, citrusy but it tastes bad. I've had this experience with a few different yeasts - White labs...

    Intense hop burn in neipa

Question - can too much yeast cause this and/or contribute to this? I brew 2 1/2 gallon batches and will pitch a full packet of yeast that is intended for 5 gallons. I've always done this - however in the last 1-2 years this problem is pretty consistent with anything that is dry hopped more...

    Intense hop burn in neipa

As this beer ages it has become drinkable. However it is not hazy and not juicy. It's just starting to taste like an IPA. I use BIAB method, using a Gigawort water heater. I have had my filter water tested and use Bru'n water to adjust the water. As mentioned above, I've also used distilled...

    Intense hop burn in neipa

I am going through a similar thing in the last 1 1/2 years. I used to make good NEIPAs, then following the same process they all started to get an overwhelming harsh bitterness - undrinkable. I even did 2 batches of a kit that comes with a water mineral pack and you use distilled water. The...

CO2 Scrubbing - can it be done on cold, carbonated beer?

So I just read where someone was able to get rid of the sulfur smell by just purging the head space 5 or 6 times. I'll try this first but still would like to know if CO2 scrubbing would work on cold, carbonated beer.

CO2 Scrubbing - can it be done on cold, carbonated beer?

I have an IPA that is cold and carbonated. It has a sulfur smell to it. The smell is not super strong. Normally I'd just let it age and dissipate. However I want to be able to drink this beer tomorrow and Sunday for a trip I'm going on. I've read how to do the CO2 scrubbing but the...

    Fermentation gone wrong

Yeah - it was a weird effect. I had also brought a sample to my LHBS from one of their NEIPA recipes. Their only take was that the bitterness was from hops and not something like I tried so many things, different fermenters, propane brewing, electric brewing, double checking the fermenter...

    Fermentation gone wrong

Just wanted to give an update. The Issue ended up being that there was not enough aeration before pitching the yeast.
