    $100 Brew Kettle??

here's what I use. 60 qt stock pot it is well under your $100 range; or you could go even larger with an 80qt for $65. I have been really happy with the purchase.

    Home brew has ruined me

Welcome to the "beer snob" club... SWMBO gave me a hard time when we were out at a restaurant a couple of days ago and I had the waitress run down their whole beer list.... and then ordered a Pepsi. They didn't have anything that I wanted to drink when I knew I could go home and have all the...

three weeks, three brews, two photos, three questions

Are you doing extract, partial mash, or all grain? as far as question #1 goes, I think if you are doing extract, all (or at least most) DMS precursors should have been taken care of by the extract process. so, leaving the lid on wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. If you were doing all...

    Nottingham not starting up

+1 on rehydrating. I just did an IIPA 5 days ago - 1.086 OG. Pitched 2 packets of Notty, rehydrated and it took off like a rocket. Bubbling away strong in 6 hours. These were packets I got for free from mailing in some of the recalled ones I had. This was the fastest I've had Notty start...

    Adjusting Perlick Faucets

my 525's do open extremely easy - took me a while to get used to. When I close them, I do feel a bit of a "pop" as the pressure helps to close the valve. I don't have to push on them at all to get them to seal closed and they never leak. If I were you, I wouldn't trust that the o-rings were...

Bayou Classic burners on Natural Gas?

I have this burner and just converted it to burn natural gas last week. I ended up drilling out the orifice to 5/32". This seems to be larger than normal, but I have around 60' of 3/4 black pipe to get to my brewing area. I then reduce to 1/2" utility hose. (I know, shame on me for not...

Let me run this by you guys.

I would try a batch first just to see what the actual temperature loss is. I think you'll be fine. I use a rectangular cooler, and even on the small beers, I've never noticed a temp loss of greater than .5 deg F.

So I'm going to Vegas tomorrow...

I can't help you with online, but there are a couple of places that you can get cheap tickets for that nights shows. You have to wait in line a bit and are limited to whatever's available, but you might be able get a good deal. Last time I was out there we got a great deal and I'm pretty sure...

    Opinions on Grain Mills

I have the Barley Crusher as well and love it. It seems that anyone who has bought a grain mill has been very happy with the investment, regardless of brand.

+1 for perlicks. No way you will be disappointed!

    Continued Hop Desensitization

I remember a time when SNPA was way too hoppy for me. What was I thinking? Now I can't get enough Ruination or hopslam. Still waiting to get my hands on some Pliny though.
