    Stainless sink reviews

I am looking to pull the trigger on a stainless sink and spray wash faucet combo. Narrowed down between the Gridman 24" by 24" on Amazon or the regency on Webstrauntstore Both get mixed reviews. Just wondering if I am signing up for more headache than happiness. Anyone have either of these...

    Dedicated Chiller Plumbing?

Working on the basement brewery and am considering how to plumb in the plate chiller. Do you have a separate line and valve for it or do you try to run it off a faucet? Wondering how others have done this. I would still like to unhook the chiller for cleaning/sanitation purposes so I dont...

Advice/experience with steam venting in basement brewery

Thanks for all the input so far. House is relatively new and I am in the basement in an unfinished corner. I will be venting directly to the outside through a spray foam covered rim joist. I will have makeup air through the return air duct for the power hot water heater (code in our...

Advice/experience with steam venting in basement brewery

I am finally pulling the trigger on building out a dedicated brew space and am working on the ventilation. Going full electric BIAB 5 gallon with maybe a separate 10 gallon option later. I think I have a good idea how I want the plumbing and electrical, but I am less sure about the...

    What should I brew next?

Looking for a little help with ideas for what to brew next. I have Deception Milk Stout and a Generic Cascade APA on tap. Need suggestions for #3. I brew 5 gal BIAB and am open to anything. Lets see what this crowd-sourcing thing is all about.

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

I am drinking this now and its REALLY good! If anyone is on the fence about making this, do it. It is excellent. Gets better as it ages.

    Hydrometer Reading Best Practices?

Best way to sample and read a hydrometer is to get pitch it and get a refractometer. For ~$30 you will wonder why you ever fiddled with that stupid contraption...

Hop Suggestions for Interesting Creamish Ale

I tend to be on the hoppy side of life and make a light beer with a similar grain bill. What you have there is a really good base for anything from a cream ale of sort through to a IPA if you just crank up the IBUs If you want to keep it light, cascade, centennial, and the other domestics...

Is beer a common drink or a special drink for you?

I probably drink it more than I should. I have noticed that and plan to cut back some. I will typically have a beer with supper 3-4 nights a week. On the weekends I will have a couple more. On "special occasions" I will have 5-6 in one evening. I rarely have more than that.

    Help, wedding brew advice!

Can't recommend BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde enough. That is my "house beer" and the BMC crowd continually raves about it as well as some of the more adventurous palates. That and a simple cascade pale ale or other American Pale Ale would satisfy the hop crowd.

    Kegged too early, I fear...

Dont worry, it will continue to age and clarify as it sits in the keg. I am famous for making 1/3 of a keg of really good beer. The first two thirds being too green. I just cant wait sometimes. Also some beers appear to be more tolerant of quick drinking than others. Actually I think that...

    Christmas/Holiday Ale...when to add spices

I like the idea of C also. That way I can adjust to find the right amount.

How long is BIAB taking you?

I would say 4-6 hours is the range. I run an electric induction system so my heating times are maybe a little slower. I can easily go from "Hey, I should brew beer today" to fully cleaned up in 6 hours on my induction system. I could do that in 5 hours with my propane unit. I like to enjoy...

    Christmas/Holiday Ale...when to add spices

Am looking to do one of these for the holiday season. I am wondering if anyone can comment on the pro's/con's of adding spices at the end of the boil vs adding them as "dry hop" additions at after primary fermentation.

05, Notty or 1084 for Irish Red

Ive been making a "Red Pale Ale" that I really like. Think of it as a hopped up version of a standard Irish Red. Been using Notty in that but have some 1084 going in the "Deception Milk Stout" that I will save to try in the RPA.

Induction cooker and a PID - doable?

I have been interested in this for a while, but have not seen a clean solution yet. I run BIAB on the 3500W Avantco burner and like it a lot. Gives me a good boil for 5 gal batches, is quiet and I can run it in a closed garage. The solution I have been thinking about is adding a smaller 110V...
