I think I'm much healthier since I started to home brew. I don’t sit in front of the TV and eat and drink. I get out more, build brew equipment, lift and move all the water and gear around when I brew every weekend. So I feel much better now than before. Thanks to brewing I never have to...
After reading all the posts about how people leave the wort to ferment in the Primary for up to 4 weeks!
I now own three 6 gal carboys as Primaries, I modified a fridge with digital temp controller for lagers to ferment and another fridge dedicated to cooling the bottled beer for consumption...
Of course it would have to have its own generator for power in an emergency. Lets not forget fresh water and of course the brew gear. It would be a natural disaster preparedness facility, Right? The wife would have to buy into it. Hummm, I wonder if I could get the government to subsidize it...
I'm no expert, but I think you got a deal. I personally would have left the glasses with him as I dont do free advertising for companies. I even make the car dealer take their logo off the car or give me another 10% off. Funny all the logos are gone when I pick up the car. Brew on!
I wonder how much a walk-in cooler for the garage is.
Maybe I could sell it to her as a hurricane shelter.
At least we would have lots of beer to drink till the storm passes.
Oh the dreams!
I tell her it really isn't that much, The 60 quart HLT pot came today.
The 42 quart brew pot came on Tuesday. Maybe I should ship to my brother's house. LOL... I have to run to the LHBS tomorrow to fill this weekends grain bill.
I just can't stop. HELP!!!!
It's Florida and my one Fridge chamber will have to do the cold crash on the Pilsner, so I guess 72oF for the Haus Pale. I guess that's too much for WLP800 yeast to be happy. I do want happy yeast right?
Thanks
I just don't think I'm at the point I feel I can successfully save yeast yet. I have read a bunch and watch a lot of YouTube about it. I just would hate to brew a bad batch because I messed up the yeast save. I do have some Safale -05 in the fridge so I think Ill use that and keep the Pilsner...
Xier,
How much yeast do you think you will get? Will it be for one brew or will some of it keep growing to use for others batches too? Thanks for keeping us up dated it’s awesome what you have achieved.
I have a Pilsner that is in a fermentation chamber two weeks now at 50oF to 53oF. I still see some slow bubbles coming from the bottom. I am afraid to open it to check the gravity. The OG was 1.037 or a Brix of 9.6, I want to go to a secondary and use the yeast for my next brew this weekend. Is...
This is awesome, I love this.
Have you considered making a shelf that is larger and would fit inside the vertical wood parts of the unit and on top of your cabinet? You could cut out for the tower so you would not have to take it apart. You could also get some stick on formica or tile to make...
Xier,
I am sorry to hear about your wife, I hope she has a speedy recovery.
I understand a little about what you are going through in China. I have a good friend that spent years to be able to Marry a women from China. We have spoken much about life in china; it is so different than anything...
I'm new to brewing and new to this forum. Please let me know if I'm in the wrong place.
I am ready to switch to all grain recipes. I am looking for something light in color and easy to drink as a summer beer. Im not worried about the ABV, just color and taste. All the extract brewing is...
