    Question about RIMS system...

The purpose of the sparge is to get all the sugars out of the mash, I would think that mixing your first runnings into the sparge water is a bad idea, I would stick with the bucket method until you get the hlt/bk emptied and then finish the runoff into the hlt/bk.

    Question about RIMS system...

Just reread your intial post. So you are using a Cooler as your MT and a keg as your BK/HLT? The reason for running off into a bucket? Why not put your element in your HLT/BK and basicly make an immersion chiller to heat your MT by recirculating threw the spage water, then pull it out for...

    Question about RIMS system...

Normaly ...well in a system that has 3 kettles ie MT, HLT, BK your coil would be in the HLT with your 168 degree sparge water. During the mash if you need to increase temp you would recirculate it threw the coil in the HLT at the end of the mash you would recurculate unitl the MT temp was 168...

New to All grain, looking for suggestions

If you use Beersmith after you put in your recipe with your mash and system info hit the Brew steps button it will give you step by step instructions.:) I'm assuming you are refering to the brew session and have your system ready to go.

    Help figure out low efficiency...

How are you sparging batch or fly? My system is set up for 40 gal brew's I found that with the larger grain bills that during the mash we need to mix about every 15 min or so and that batch sparging seemed to give us the best efficency. Using Beersmith batch sparge volumes we initaly run...

    2bbl electric control panel

What else are you running besides 2 elements in each kettle and maybe a pump or 2? I run 2 elements and maybe 2 pumps a time with no issues on one amp gfi. I suppose I could have brought in another 60 amp gfi if I wanted to run the HLT and MT at the same time but don't really see the need...

    DIY Spunding Valve

The one I linked above from granger seems to work fine but the pressure level marks as you lighten the pressure doesn't seem to be correct, at the 30 psi mark it basically bleeds back to about 5 psi and maintains that pressure until you change it. I Finlay just put it on an empty keg and set...

My Electric build-thanks all who have posted their builds

We were surprised and kind of wished we hadn't changed the crush on the grain, the way we sparged and the mixing all at once to see what the effect would have been individually. It all seemed to work out well after a few more bathes we will see if it was a fluke or what:) As for the wart...
