    Homebrew in Portland, Or. parks

Hey all brewers & brew lovers out there! I'm kinda getting a lil worried that I may not be able to share my brews with my friends & family at my wedding. We've reserved a park here in Portland, Or, Mt. Tabor Park, to be specific. My plan was to move my keezer into the picnic area where we'll...

another "getting into all grain" question...

+1 to all the above, but you don't really need to all that stuff for good AG brews. Just a cooler/ mash tun; real easy ways to convert them suckers, 10 g pot for sure, couple thermometers you can test against each other(boiling/ice), some vinyl tubing....that's pretty much all I use & I'm...

    MO SMaSH!!

Hell's Yeah! I hope your move goes smoothly and you can rebuild your nest accordingly. Pretty stoked to carb this bad ride up & give it all away soon. I've been pleased with resulting taste of S04 & it's clean & clear in a week. Did a couple gravity/taste tests this eve with the MO SMaSH, among...

    MO SMaSH!!

Hey Gold! Thanks for the encouragement on that MO SMaSH brew. Turned out awesome! Well, so far anyway... Brewed on Sunday with 10# MO & 2oz EKG. Single step mash at 152*F/60 mins, batch sparge, FWH 1oz EKG, 1/2@15 min, 1/2@5 min. Only 2 days in primary w/ S04 @ 60-65*f ambient & already tastes...

    MO SMaSH!!

I'm gonna use S04. It makes me happy. I guess it's Go English! or Go Somewhere Else...? But I've really been pleased with S04. Been making a smoked cherry ale with MO all summer & S04 seems to dry it out enough but kinda leaves the cherries alone, a bit, which I like. The cookie crust mouthfeel...

    Marris Otter SMaSH

Thanx guys! Supercool! I think I'll do the FWH instead of the 60 min addition. And imma stick to my grainbill & hops, 10# MO/2oz EKG, unless maybe i need more hops to balance the MO?

    Marris Otter SMaSH

10# MO 2oz EKG What's up, y'all? Any suggestions? I was thinking 1oz@60,1/2oz@20, 1/2oz@5... Tis my 1st SMaSH brew, for my wedding, thinking of a good session brew that may appeal to the few BMC drinkers that will be there. Any suggestions and opinions are all greatly appreciated!

    MO SMaSH!!

Hey GoldDiggie- I'm doing my first MO SMaSH this wknd. I'm using 10# MO and was thinking 1oz EKG @ 60, 1/2oz EKG@20, 1/2oz EKG @5... What do you think about this recipe/plan? Pretty similar to yours, tho not as big. I'm trying to make a good, sessionable English pale that might appeal to the...

How many gallons of BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde have been brewed?

Aaa agh! 15 gallons got skipped!! Do the math. This post followed: "I'll add another 5 to make it 3128."

Hops at flameout instead of dry hopping?

FWIW, I "slo-chill" and add a substantial amount of hops to the bucket as I drain my boil kettle. I let the wort cool over a couple hours, using water/ice, with the hops in the cooling vessel. I've had no need to dry hop with this method. I should note that that I drain the bk at about 180*F...

What I did for beer today

Building a pipeline intended to blow some people's minds, as I've been brewing all the beer that will be available for my wedding coming up next month! Been nailing some great recipes (my own mostly :), getting good feedback and backing up my kegs. We made it official today! We're young but...

    help needed (flamenting)

Wow. Just read the whole thread. I'm new here, among many. I'm an American. I, too, have grown leaps and bounds in my brewing from the fountain of information I've gleaned from this forum. I applaud Dan for his poetic comment on the slaughter of polland. Like a pack of wolves they pounced...

What I did for beer today

Sullenly strolled the very choice beer section at my local grocery feeling unsatisfied. It's just that, now that I can make the exact beer I want to drink, I don't really wanna drink anything else :) I Love supporting small and local business, but let's give it a rest with all the friggin' Pales...

    Session Indian Brown Ale

Looks good to me. Id like to brew that I think. I've made a couple sessions this summer using extract/steep for a "quick brew day". Good beers. A lil thin. I believe this was a result of too much top off water. PITA brew days, both of em. It was like I forgot how to extract brew. Boil overs, f'd...

Beginner's question about lack of fermentation

What Nordeast says. Works every time! But I wouldn't bother harvesting the yeast from that batch. Oh, sooooo tired.

What I did for beer today

Informed SWMBO that brewing yeast cannot possibly cause v@ginal yeast infections. This is fact. And she looks at me like I'm an idiot. It's like comparing house cats to tigers. We do what we can, I guess :/

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Ahhh. Thanx dude. Any thoughts on aerating by pouring thru the tap?

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Cool! I'm guessing that getting rid of the cold-break might result in a clearer beer. So goes the mythology, anyway.
