Long term beer storage in Glass Carboys?

Since I got a 12.5 gallon SS Conical I am not using my carboys but I am running out of kegs. Plan for next batch is to keg 5 gallons and put 5 gallons of fermented clear cold crashed beer in a carboy with bubbler and cold store till I have a keg to transfer to. I have 3 carboys so this would...

    american stainless conicals from PA

I picked up one of these for $360 +- delivered and have made 4 10 gallon batches. Only complaint is that the lid seals are a pain to put on and keep on when setting the lid. I think I will add some handles and that should make it better. I was going to add a racking tube on the upper valve but...

My first keg on Nitro questions

So this weekend I will be kegging 10 gallons of Irish Stout and for the 1st time will serve on 25% CO2/75% Nitrogen. My standard proceedure for kegging on CO2 has been to set the regulator for the correct CO2 volumes and rock the keg untill it is saturated then store on pressue a few days before...

    Another am I stuck?

update. Dumped yeast today and started 40 deg cold crash. Gravity was about 1.026 and taste was excelent. So my OG came in at 1.060 14 pts above target 1.046 and final came in 1.026 13 points above target 1.013. Alc calcs out at 4.46%. I think it will be a good beer, maybe a little sweet? A...

Know how to remove these things?

There are little tabs next to the big bulge (you can see them in your photo), pry out the tab using a small side cutter/dikes and they open right up

    Another am I stuck?

Thank you all for the input. But since I had yeast available and little patience I will pitch the new starter later today to get things going.

    Another am I stuck?

I have some harvested wyeast 1056 I am warming up for a starter today and will repitch tomorrow

    Another am I stuck?

I just took another gravity reading with no real change. Hydrometer test in room temp tap water was about 1.002. Repitched from the dump valve and there was not a lot of settled yeast like normal? Seems most yeast is still suspended? I will check in 24 hours???? And will try new yeast if it does...

    Another am I stuck?

No I have not dumped the yeast yet. Thinking I may just harvest and repitch the same yeast to see if that will get it going?

    Another am I stuck?

gravity sample is at 1.026 at 11:00 AM today, 6 hours under 1 week from pitch. Dropped 3 more points in just under 3 days. Target Final Gravity is 1.014 so that would be another 12 points with 2 more weeks in the fermentor. At this point I normally dump trub and collect yeast. The sample had...

    Another am I stuck?

Thanks yooper. Glad I posted first. I'll check for a change in gravity

    Another am I stuck?

This no bubbles is bothering me and I have some time today so I will add some oxygen, drain some yeast and repitch. I started thinking and realized I had drained trub and took the gravity sample with the vent tube submerged, it's several feet up to the fermentor so I didn't back flow but the...

To bag or not to bag? Dry Hopping w/FastFerment Conical Fermentor

I would be affraid of the threads holding contamination on bolts or nuts The shot glass works fine for me but a nice 1" SS Ball bearing would be better. Stansan is great but a small pot on the stove and 10 minutes you can give your weght and hop bags a good boil right before using

To bag or not to bag? Dry Hopping w/FastFerment Conical Fermentor

better option for weight may be SS Ball Bearings/marbles but I don't have any

To bag or not to bag? Dry Hopping w/FastFerment Conical Fermentor

I have not just dumped hops in because of cocerns with plugging the dump valve but if hopping after harvesting there is probably no reason for concern if you have a racking valve above the dump valve. I use a hop bag with a heavy shot glass for weight and hang it with fine SS wire that goes...
