    Are you a farmhouse brewer?

I don't want to derail this original topic but wheat malting is quite easy. Use the following... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f36/easy-wheat-malting-picture-guide-322877/ Some of my wheat is dried in a greenhouse and some is dried in my kitchen oven set to "warm" which is 150-175 degrees...

    Are you a farmhouse brewer?

I live on a small farm in a farmhouse built in 1901. I malt my own wheat and think I'll try barley next. I do make a wide variety of beer styles. Think I might put in a couple hop plants next year too. I love country life.

    Swamp cooler TOO cold!

I just finished a nut brown fermented with US05 at cold temps. I was shooting for 60-62 degrees but most of my fermentation ended up at 57-58 degrees. It slows down below 60 degrees but still finished out nicely. Try to get the temps up a little, low 60's it runs pretty good. -Tony

How much do you pay for bottles?

My LHBS is $9.95 per 24 (12 ounce). I have gotten a few cases from them but since have friends and co-workers save their Sam Adams, Moerlein, etc. bottles. Only ones I complain about is Great Lakes bottles, the glue for the label doesn't come off easily and sometimes I resort to using lacquer...

    aging cream ale with wlp080

Fermentation is finishing up with an all grain batch of Cream Ale that I used WLP080 Cream Ale Blend yeast. I fermented around 65 degrees and I am about to dry hop for a few days before I bottle. Once I bottle this, should I age/condition this like an ale or a lager (cool or at room temp)...

    1930's price?

I am in the middle of reading "Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition" and a few weeks ago my wife and I took the Cincinnati Over the Rhine Brewery Tour. I asked my father what beer cost in the mid to late 40's but he couldn't remember. Hudepohl had a military beer contract during WWII...

    Best online recipe calculator?

I mostly use Hopville.com and recently started to play with brewersfriend.com I get similar results with both of these, not exactly the same but close. I was just wondering what everyone else was using. Tony

I grew up in Cincinnati and this town has a deep brewing history. I would like to get a couple old brewing bottles, prior to prohibition. Does anyone have some old Cincinnati brewing bottles that they are willing to let go? I am specially interested in old Moerlein "Crock" type bottles...
