Ya...its all gravy...but I dont know...I strained everything out but there was just this nasty little group of small yeast clumps that just bobbed around at the top of the carboy...I knew they would be trouble...I was siphoning into the bottling bucket and they came along--again and then even...

Oh man, Im a freak about straining. I dont want all those boiled hops and grain fragments floatin around in my beer bottles near the end...Though I know they sink, thats just more paranoia when Im transfering it around...I figured out a cool way to strain... If he pitched the yeast in the fermenter with the entire contents of the boil, wouldnt most of the yeast be at the bottom which he then seperated the wort from when he put it in the secondary---wouldnt this cause an incredibly slow fermentation if krausen hadnt taken place? I dunno, Im still a...

Anyone got a good Christmas Ale?

Thanks for the recipe...it sounds intense! lol If I start the first of next month I think I should be OK with all the aging and such... I always thought that for priming it was 3/4 cup? Or is that just with corn sugar...because I would probably use what I have and thats corn sugar... Just...

Help with fridge for lagering (pics)

Thanks yeah...that would be kind of a hassle and I would have to spend more money lol. The freezer part isnt very airtight which means that perhaps they kind of share temperatures or something...I could take off all the freezer parts but then Im not really sure how a external temp controller...

Help with fridge for lagering (pics)

Hey I have this mini fridge laying around and thought maybe I could use it for lagering (with the correct external temp. controller). Yet, when I open it, the bottom is not big enough for a fermenter because a big square is going into it...the freezer part is on top and is taking up room, plus...

Would you like a lemon with that?

I also went to Amsterdam this summer and got the slice of lemon in a Hoegaarden with the masher...you know...Hoegaarden really isnt very..."beery"..its very citrusey...Im not going to lie to ya, on a hot day, a glass of ice cold Hoegaarden with a lemony taste to it really quenches the...

Starters question about primary brewing bucket lid

The primary fermenter's lid has a rubber ring going around the inside/outermost part of the lid, which makes it airtight. The hole you spoke of is where a rubber stopper with a hole is inserted and an airlock is placed in. It cannot openly ventilate because then bacteria and nasty air can get...

Help with: BIERE DU BOUCANIER GOLDEN ALE

Choosing the yeast wont be that hard, just kinda in the dark about how much of those hops and what times they should be boiled at.
