The wort was cooled to 70F. The basement is about 62F. I would 100% agree with you if I hadn't seen it myself. However it was for sure off gassing and hasn't quit in the last 24hrs.
We brewed a Hefe this week and used a Wyeast 3068 (slap bag). We popped the nutrient about 4hrs before pitching. About 15mins after pitching we had active fermentation going on. We've never seen this before! Is this normal? We figured it was due to the slap bag pack as we use dry yeast often.
I just brewed with a buddy and wanted to try this. I like really wheaty beers with the banana and bubble gum flavor. We did a 60/40 wheat to pilsner mix though. Those of you that have done 100% wheat what does the end result taste like?
Do you have pictures of the extent of the damage? These are probably shipping from China and getting rattled against each other on the boat/plane over.
Either way a ding or scratch shouldn't be anything to be concerned about IMO.
I wouldn't consider it as unsanitary because of a small ding or scratch. Have you ever seen some of the inner welds on Sanke kegs? I think us as home brewers are overly OCD when it comes to this. Just my .02 though!
Longgg time lurker but figured it's time to make a couple posts. Maybe give back some info as I've taken much from the forum. Anyone else from Asheville??
