    BIAB results

Because we can never have too many right? Just thought I would post my results for everyone to learn from. The recipe 7.5 lbs marris otter 1oz. Fuggles (60min) .5oz Fuggles (20min) .5oz Fuggles (0min) Mash temp of 155 deg. knowing that it would drop fairly quickly in my cold garage...

    Debriefing Time: First BIAB

Gin, I used water heater insulation to wrap around my kettle. However, the stuff I got was fiberglass on one side so I doubled it up and aluminum taped the ends so it was foil on both sides. Worked well considering it was 40 degree in my garage.

Bad flavor in last 3 AG beers

Has your fermentation been consistent? I have read excessive fusel alcohol can cause headaches.

    DIY aeration wand

I have all my stuff ready for my first o2 aeration but I am trying to brainstorm ways to keep the stone at the bottom of the carboy. So far I am stuck on the idea of clipping a section of a wire coat hanger and putting it inside the tubing to keep it rigid. However, Im not sure what kind of...

First BIAB! Inspired by Brewing TV

I was also inspired by the latest BTV. I'm going to do an ordinary bitter when I have keg space, but I'm going to try and rinse the grains or do a quick batch sparge in another pot.

    Wyeast 3068 weihenstephaner question

I had my first blow up with this yeast. Was making a hefe and was running late for work the next morning. Decided to peek at it before I was out the door only to find yeast all over my carboy and tile floor. I didnt have time to clean it so I gave it my best wishes and returned 8 hours later to...

    My new tap handle

That would be great if you could fit the base around the faucet and have the joystick as the handle.

    My new tap handle

Thought this was worty of a thread. I did some careful wood carving and controler cutting to make it a solid handle, while still allowing the buttons to be pressed in like normal. I plan to stain and poly the wooden part when I have time. I also want to make another one out of the zapper gun...

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

Looks like a smart build. You could even add some double barbs where the hoses enter the cake pan to make the hose replacement easier and cheaper. Seems like the hose would be under quite a bit of stress, especially if the liquid is hot.

    really stupid experiment

Experimenting is half the fun. Do you have any pictures of the bubbles? I would have to suggest getting real ingredients also when throwing stuff in beer.

    Show us your Kegerator

Quite the first post ranger. One of the slickest looking builds I have seen. I like the tile and hanging beer indicators.

    Show us your Kegerator

Nothing special yet, but I just got it and I am excited. Plan to add one or 2 more taps and some chalkboard paint on the wall behind it to know whats on tap. Was thinking about making my own wooden handles too.

    Took the leap to kegging

I always put my freshly bottled beer into a big rubermaid storage container. I can fit a whole batch in there just in case one blows.
