    Stoppers! Arghh!

I had the same problem. I too am not a big fan of drying them off with a towel or letting them sit in the open till they dry, so I taped mine down. It worked, but Last week I bought the plastic cap you have in your pic and I like it.

    Vanilla Beans and Wild Yeast

I am about to add vanilla that has been soaking in Jack Daniels and oak cubes to an old ale. I am curious about the sanitation from the hard liquor myself. Hope someone has had experience with this.

    Beer at work?

I work for the railroad. Old guys say back in the day everyone drank, they got more done, and with less injuries. Hard to believe. Today you can't even fart without someone wanting to fire you.

    Carbonation and lack of buzz

What was the recipe? Did you take gravity readings? What yeast did you use?

    Carbonation and lack of buzz

Maybe its just a low ABV beer. Throw a shot of jack daniels in it. That will take care of the problem.

    Hop seeds affect beer?

I just bottled an IPA that I used 6.5 ounces of cascade whole hops in. It smells/tastes great from hydrometer, but I noticed that each bottle has a few seeds floating in it. I hope they sink, but was wondering if others have had this problem? Or if its even anything to worry about aside from...

Elfer let me know what brand it is. If you like it I will give it a try.

how long does it take others to bottle a 5 gallon batch?

It takes me 2-3 hours. That is from start to finish. The bottling tree is great, but my vinator broke after a few uses. I know a lot of people like the vinator, and although I think it is a good idea, I think its built with poor quality materials/bad design for homebrewing. Really bottling goes...

    This is my story....

Weird contest. Winning 5 gallons of beer is great, Winning 5 gallons of wort requires a rather sizable parts list. Sure its not fermented?

    Cherry Ale issues

This reminds me of a cherry stout I did years ago. A few pounds frozen cherries added at flameout and extract at bottling. It turned out to be undrinkable. I waited a year and the cherry was still so strong it was more of a room freshener than a beer. I hope yours turns out better than mine.

Dual Tun, All Base Malt RO Water Partigyle

I just did a partigyle sunday and am now building a second mash tun for next time. Two mash tuns instead of mashing twice for the first runnings will save a lot of time. It was a long day.

    Goodbye....

I have never had Pliney The Elder, but 144.7 IBUs is crazy! Glad to hear it went well on your first all grain.

    45 years ago this week...

My first space memory was the Challenger explosion. Even though I was just a kid, i still remember Ronald Reagans speech. It was a tragic day, but the best speech I have ever heard.
