    Knowing when fermentation is done

Without a hydrometer I would just let it ride for 2 weeks. longer if you want. You don't want to rush the yeast as they tend to clean up after themselves if you give them time. You will probably hit FG by 6 days but the extra time for the yeast to finish their job will improve the final product...

No distilled water available & I want to brew

I am on board with what mongoose33 said. invest in an RO system! after brewing for 2 years hauling distilled water from my local grocery (if they had that much in stock) I purchased an inexpensive RO system and wish i would have much sooner. My system paid for itself after about 10 brews with...

    guidance needed for smoker recommendations

I have a Pit Boss pellet smoker/grill. I can smoke or direct flame broil on it. Very nice smoker for the price. I have used charcoal in the past but love how controllable the pellet smoker is.

    No flagship :(

It's my understanding that the Imperial 07 and WLP001 are both Chico so basically the same strain. The higher cell count in the Imperial means you can skip building a started for most beers of average OG.

    Check valve for C02?

These are threaded directly into the regulator pressure out port. Maybe a slight chance of beer backing up in the line but I have never had that issue.

    Distilled water?

The mineral content of your water will absolutely affect the taste of your beer as well as the mash ph. And mash ph is important it doing all grain. Before I purchased an RO system I always used distilled water with additions as my tap water is just awful. But you should use additions to...

My wife made me do it!

I agree completely with everything you added, just didn't want to too deep in the rabbit hole. I drive past Troegs every day going home from work. Only a half mile away. And yes, I do stop after work with friends a couple of times a month for a growler fill and a drink. Engineman on a...

My wife made me do it!

I started my home brewing when my WONDERFUL wife told me "you are not getting any younger and I know you really want to do this". She has supported my hobby and bought some of my bigger equipment additions to the brewery as birthday and Christmas gifts. She is not much of a beer drinker but...

Help me fix my snowblower so I can RAHAHB

Try to find ethanol free fuel in The future. The ethanol will deteriorate all of the rubber fuel lines and corrode the metal the carb is made of. It Also absorbs moisture contributing to the corrosion problems. Most lawn care services in my area buy aviation fuel at a small local airport. No...
