    How do I use star san most effectivly for bottling?

    Isnt really much in the way of LHBS places the closest decent place i have found with a good selection is in San luis Obispo a place called Docs cellar. When you get to SB let me know i havent been able to find many home brewers in this area.

    first batch fermentation temp

    So I just went and checked it this morning the temp was around 77 eak!! :/ so I unplugged it but there was a thick layer of foam on the top of the beer but the bear hasn't started fermenting yet. Hopefully I haven't messed up to bad on my first batch :(

    Started my first batch today and am using a firm wrap to keep the temperature up while in my garage, it is a red ale and the yeast was Nottingham Ale Yeast the temperature has been bouncing between 72-75 F is this to warm for this yeast for it to work properly?

    If you are adding the sugar source later on in fermentation then would there be any way to find out your ABV? And also in one other thread it says take your batch from being a 5 gallon to 4 gallon does anyone know how much that would increase your ABV?
