Pitched a Different Yeast into Secondary

Well, I'm new at this, and basically I didn't like the flavor that the Yorkshire left, so I thought I'd add one that I did like... hoping it would change the flavor profile... But if I'm reading you right, it sounds like I chose poorly?

Pitched a Different Yeast into Secondary

I didn't like how dry my Brown Ale turned out with the Yorkshire Square Ale Yeast, so I moved it into a secondary, added 3 oz of Molasses and pitched a pack of Safeale US-05. I'm experiementing here... Thoughts anyone?

Can you add salt to a beer ?

Salt is a key element in taste enhancement, so why aren't we doing this with beer? I'm thinking it should be added to the boil. I'm definitely going to try this.

Converting the freezer on my freezer/fridge split door

Is it possible to convert the just freezer portion of my split door fridge to a kegerator? I keep bottles in the fridge section and the freezer is unused. It would be perfect for some kegs or fermenting.

    Help me off the ledge

As an avid amateur chef, I can assure you that turkey thermometers are notoriously bad. If your primary thermometer is completely housed in foam insulation that reading may also be off a little. Can I assume that one side is open and placed directly against the bucket? If so, plastic is not...

Can you do a second fermentation?

Fair enough... I hope not, I take great strives to prevent contamination, including bringing home surgical drapes to cover countertops in my kitchen... (Hey we throw them away anyway). I'm hoping that I'm just detecting sulphurs from the yeast at work, it's still a bit cloudy. The good news...

Can you do a second fermentation?

I brewed an English Brown Ale 10 days ago and I am very unhappy with the flavor profile of the Yorkshire Square Ale yeast that I used. (either that or I have my first batch of contaminated beer)... Considering my first thought, is it possible to pitch another yeast strain to change the flavor...

    Wyeast Farmhouse Ale Fermentation period?

Holding at 1.009 and still tastes great. Those Lil 3726 buggers are tough! I dropped it to 70 and will condition for 14 days or so before bottling. Thanks for the help!

    Wyeast Farmhouse Ale Fermentation period?

Thanks, I'll take another reading tomorrow and if it holds, I'll drop the temp to 70. My wife will be happy to get her bathroom back anyway.

    Looking for "Acid Malts"

I'm looking for Acid Malts... I usually buy from Northern Brewer, but I can't find anything that says Acid Malts. Can I assume that any grain with a low PH is an Acid Malt? That sounds a little too easy to me.

    Wyeast Farmhouse Ale Fermentation period?

Yep, I read several posts on here and other sites that said to go at 90 and stay hot. I'm relatively new at this so I just went for it since the Wyeast website said 80-95 deg F. Luckily It tastes REALLY nice. OG was 1.056 and it's down to 1.009. I've lowered the temp and it's holding steady...

    Wyeast Farmhouse Ale Fermentation period?

I'll definitely keep you posted. I tried what I used to take the reading with tonight and it was excellent, no off flavors or odors. I read quite a few postings on other sites that said to start off with the 3726 at 90 and let go for a week or more, I just thought it would stop by now. I...

    Wyeast Farmhouse Ale Fermentation period?

Reading is 1.009, so it has to be done. I'm farely new and I've never used this strain before. Why would it keep bubbling away? OH and temps are closer to 88 after looking at the thermostat.
