Stalled Ferment or bad hygro reading?

Hey all, long short: my neighbor and I have jumped Ito homebrewing together. We just bottled our second brews. I amped up midwest's Irish red into an IpA and he tried a Sculpin "clone.". Both extract with seeping. Now the issue. We both transferred to a secondary( free up primary) check...

Plastic water cooler bottle as carboy

Have a sculpin clone and a red ipa in 2 #1 5 gallon water jugs right now. Had to free up a primary for a founder breakfast stout clone :)

    Cap popped off secondary, worry?

Thanks guys, I'm hoping to bottle in 7 days. That would be 10 in primary (after stable hydgro) and 14 in secondary. The picture below shows, the bottle in the back is the one the cap "popped" off. The bottle in the front is how the bottle in the back was.

    Cap popped off secondary, worry?

Hi all, A quick "should I be worried or chill out" thread. I went down to throw a second round of coffee in a coffee stout I brewed last Sunday, and the red ipa I had in my secondary lost its cap. (in a 5 gallon water bottle same material as a better bottle, so basically a better bottle) the...

Have I been too clever for my own good? Oxygenated wort?

You'll be fine. There needs to be some oxygenation so the yeasties can get started doing their thing. There's actually O2 kits and paddles to attach to cordless drills to oxygenate the wort right before pitching the yeast. I haven't used either if these put I do pour my wort for pot to...

    Mr Beer Microbrewery System

My first ever batch was a month ago. I got a mr. Beer as a gift then I used the mr. Beer fermenter, but did a 2.5 extract brew with no seeping grains and a hop schedule just to get used to the process instead of the included kit. Now my neighbor and I have 5 gallons each: a red ipa and...

    Blow off in airlock

Hey all, quick question. I brewed a DIPA and Have blow off krausen in the Airlock (3 piece filler with vodka). Do I need to clear and clean/ sanitize or leave it alone? It's at active ferment.

Ferment on top of used yeast cake

Relative newbie here, been lurking trying to read up and learn. But now I need help :). Brewed a red IPA with Wyeast American Ale yeast last Friday, and my hygro readings have stabilized. I want to brew again this weekend, and I only have one primary so I'm gonna transfer to a secondary. I...

Yeast starter noob, altneratives to flask?

I did my first starter last week in a sanitized glass 1/2 gallon milk jug. Worked great. I started to freak when I didn't really "see" any fermentation, but when I sloshed around got heavy foaming and could see the multiplication of yeast at the bottom. Good Luck!

Ballast Point West Coast Pale Ale - 1st Batch

I'm a real newbie, but you want to get that ferment temp at least to 70 and below. Your wort is at the high end of ale ferment. You might end up with some esters from the yeast at that temp. I just brewed a red IPA and had to icebath and am rotating 4 frozen water bottles about every 12...
