    First Time Conical

Short story: Fermentor not bubbling. Opened top 3" port and looks like there is krausen, but no bubbles in airlock. Can't figure out why. Longer story........ Recently purchased the SSBrewtech 1/2 barrel chronical BME. Rinsed, passivated, and rinsed again. Tested with water to...

What do you set your e-kettles on?

I am getting set up to switch to e-brew from propane. Have a stainless utility table. Kal, I totally trust you since you are the e-brew man, but stainless on stainless seems like they are going to conduct heat. You used something like this and it made no difference?

Can I move the input on my secondary regulators?

Sorry for the idiocracy, but..... Is the co2 out from the primary requlator flowing in two directions through each secondary.... unimpeded to the next chained secondary impeded via the secondary to the nipple What is stopping the co2 from continuing out the last secondary in the...

    Keezer cooling source for conical

I just bought the ssbrewtech chronical BME (waiting for it to arrive) that takes liquid in through the side and wraps around inside the fermentor to cool/heat as needed. I am going to build my own cooling system with an inkbird, fermwrap, and aquarium pump. Cooling water source will be inside...

Can I move the input on my secondary regulators?

guys, do you know if secondary regulators are modular? Can you buy one with two and then later buy another two and daisy chain them together? Thx in advance.

    Herms Basics and Re Circulation

What about Boiling some water in the BK during mash A few mins before mashout, stop re-circ Pump boiling water from BK until HLT is 10deg over mashout Restart re-circ until mashout temp is reached in MLT. If HLT drops to mashout temp before MLT comes up, either have HLT heat come on or...

    Modular secondary regulators?

bumping to see if anyone can help here. Trying to work out whether it would be smarter to splurge for a 4 tap that I don't need right now and grow into it or get a 2 tap and buy another two later and just screw it into the first two. Swan

    Smallest Igloo Kegerator

I finished the build. Will post photos when I get back home in a few weeks. I decided to go with the 3 gal corny that I already had. Cut out some of the mateial from the lid in order that the post connectors will fit. Cut a hole in the front for a 2.5" jockey box shank and faucet. Cut a...

    SS Brewtech new product line

They have now created a Brewmasters edition (BME) that connects the cooling coil to the side rather than the top so can use the domed lid, has a 3" port at the top for hop additions, and has new butterfly valve design. Comes with the cooling coil and the neoprene jacket. They are also...

    Modular secondary regulators?

Are the kegco products modular? ie. can you buy a two regulator setup and then add on another one later or have to run a whole new line to the second purchase? Also, does anyone know how tall they are from the lowest bracket. I have a pretty short collar on keezer so I think might have to...

    Smallest Igloo Kegerator

Been thinking about this some more today and think that my best course of action is going to be to cut some holes in the top of the 5gal cooler and let the connectors poke through. This will mean can use the 3gal corny I already have can either attach the little 16gram co2 directly or take the...

    Smallest Igloo Kegerator

Totally get that I am not being cost efficient, but there is something idealistic about wanting to have beer pour out of a tap while having the smallest, most attractive/hidden solution that can serve 20 beers or so to a small gathering. Maybe I've just rationalized my way into a corner. :(

    Smallest Igloo Kegerator

I would like to maximize portability thus smaller is better. Cornies are round so the most efficient vessel is also round. I have a 5gal round orange igloo that is 17" high inside height, but the lid eats up a few inches of that at the edges. It is too small to handle a 3gal corny with...

    greenlee

Anyone have a greenlee punch 13/16" that they are willing to lend or rent? Seems crazy to shell out that much cash for that little use...just punching a few holes. I would obviously cover shipping in both directions. I've been on here for 5 years. Promise I'm not going to jeopardize rep...

    Relative vessel size

I have seen the sticky thread about MLT sizing, but what do folks think about the relative sizing of all the vessels including fermenter? HLT has to heat up two different sets of water: strike and sparge at two different moments in time so that reduces the size needes, but if you are doing...

    Aeration?

I think he was indicating that he aerated AFTER fermentation.

    keezer and fermenter

I know this is a bit of a DIY cop-out, but I think I am just going to go with a fermwrap and a fridge/freezer off of craigslist that is big enough to hold the conical. Seems to be the simplest and most energy efficient approach.

Peltier vs. Fermwrap vs. chamber vs. Giycol

@ajdelange Thanks so much for that explation. It seems you are focusing on the equations for cooling speed. My use case is much more about wanting to remain at constant temp despite high ambient temp. I have to believe that good insulation will allow for some pretty decent differentials. I...

Tri clover fittings installed on HERM's coil

Do you have to disconnect every time in order to drain the coil? For the Stout HLT with HERMS looks like both outlets are higher than the bottom of the coil. Have seen DIY ppl post that for HERMS they put one outlet at the very bottom for easy draining.

Peltier vs. Fermwrap vs. chamber vs. Giycol

I have been thinking about getting a conical fermenter and so recently asked a question about using my large keezer to cool a ferm chamber. But I saw on Stout's website that they have a peltier approach that seems to eliminate the need for a chamber. Anyone used those? Fermwrap can only heat...
