    Faucet Connection for Wort Chiller

Hmm...it was at home depot where the ponds and fountain stuff is. Similar to this but any should do: http://m.lowes.com/pd/smartpond-275-GPH-Submersible-Fountain-Pump/50125821 Mine has the different fitings so the chiller hose connects to it directly. I take a look at it when I get home to...

    Faucet Connection for Wort Chiller

I ran into the same issue then decided to go with a pond/fountain pump from home depot or lowes and it comes with fittings to hook it up to the chiller. put the pump in one side of your sink, kettle in the other. Works great!

    Homebrew facepalms

Same here...Ive done a few growlers myself and no issues. Ive heard to fill to the 64oz mark thats lower down because it leaves more headspace and room for carb. Mike

    How many brewers also cook?

Well, I've homebrewed for about 9 months or so and realized: If you can cook, you can homebrew. If you cant cook, you probably cant homebrew. Its as easy as following simple directions and then enjoying. Similarly, any cooking recipes can and will be modified to taste as in the homebrewing...

Is bathroom light bad for beer?

I do the same as well...i have a basement bathroom so i do my active, primary fermentation in the tub that has a few inches of water in it. Also no windows so no light whatsoever in there...after a week or so the fermenter goes into the utility room in the basement, small enough that i can let...

    Question about wort chilling

I use a SS immersion chiller, and then I bought a submersible fountain pump from home depot. It came with multiple tube adapters, and I hooked it up to the non-hose end of the chiller (the other end has the spigot adapter.) I put my hot kettle in one side of my double sink, and fill the other...

Higher Final Gravity than expected?? HELP

Hi OP / All: How did the batch come out? I'm curious because I have the same batch in my primary. I did everything according to instruction, and mine is 10 days in the primary and still has a nice level of krausen and bubbling away. I pitched a re-hydrated pack of the danstar west coast dry...

Should I Use A Bottling Bucket If I Strained The Trub While Pouring Into Fermenter?

Welcome! I'm new myself, and Ive bottled from both the fermenter and bottling bucket. I would say the bottling bucket was much easier, as youre not trying to operate a siphon and bottling wand at the same time. Plus, even though you strained the trub there will still be a ton of materials and...

    Cooling Wort Without Threaded Faucets

Hi guys! I'll chime in with my vote for the pump method. I bought a bunch of home brewing stuff off of Craigslist and a SS wort chiller was part of it. One end of the tube had a garden hose attachment, the other was just the end of the tube. Like the OP I have one of those spiffy faucets in...

Equipment suggestions for 5 gallon all grain

Craigslist was the way I went! I was thinking the same thing as you; I was looking around at all the online suppliers trying to decide what to get. At the same time I was looking around on craigslist and found a guy that had home-brewing stuff for sale. Luckily, I found a pretty good deal...

Brooklyn Brew Shop Everyday IPA Kit Tips

Hey again! Anyways, I finally bottled my 1 gal batch of chestnut ale. I got a hydrometer and decided to take a reading and it looked like it was at 1.012 or so, and I'm pretty sure it tasted like beer! It had been 3.5 weeks in the fermenter, so I decided it was done and time to bottle! I...

Brooklyn Brew Shop Everyday IPA Kit Tips

Thanks! Its been going for a few days now, and there is still quite a bit of bubbling in the liquid going on, and the there doesn't seem to be as much debris in it. It has even lightened up a bit to more a golden color than the darker color. I'm thinking this is the "finishing" and I may be...
