New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I have an ounce of Denali that I would like to throw in the second dry hopping. Should I just add it with the galaxy/mosaic/citra or remove one of those?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

How does the flavor compare to the original recipe? I love the original but wouldn't mind a little more pineappley flavor

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

Beer came out really well. Still haven't tried Heady so don't know what to compare to. As far as preference in taste though I was thinking of foregoing the hopshot next time and maybe doing the 60 with an oz of warrior. Beer is a tad more bitter than I prefer. Maybe could use something to...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Was it the Pot and Kettle? At the brewery after sampling 4 or 5 of their IPA's and coming to the conclusion that I'd rather have my own, I bought a four pack of the Pot and Kettle. It is really good.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Honestly I waited in line at trillium for 45 minutes. paid 18 bucks for a 4 pack and thought it wasn't worth it. Braufessors IPA came out better than their mettles in my opinion and everyone I shared it with.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Nice. Trillium has two breweries. One on the seaport downtown and one in the burbs 5 minutes from my house. Treehouse is over an hour away but I need to get out there. Question on oxidation in the mash. I know it is recommended to cover the bed with saran wrap. I mash in a rectagular 50 qt...

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

OG of 1.074. Day 9 and at 1.014. Should I go to secondary and start dry hopping? What am I gaining by waiting until day 14 and 21 to dry hop?

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

Can someone clarify the dry hop schedule from the "current best" recipe on page 1? It says dry hops at day 8 in the main recipe. Then down below 14 and 21. It also says split hops in half. So for example just 2 separate .25 additions of apollo?

    Poland Springs Water Additions

I know this has been asked before but was hoping for a quick response. I'm brewing a 5 gallon batch of Northeast style DIPA today using Poland Springs water, 15 pounds of Golden Promise, a pound of white wheat, little maltodextrine and tons of hops. I was going to add: CaCl 1tsp...

    Starter and High Krausen

I just went ahead and pitched it. Will report back

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

I did the Beersmith HT clone on hand recipe 3 weeks ago. Couldn't get Pearl at the LHBS so went with Halcyon. I've yet to try Heady Topper but this is by far the best recipe I've done to date. Yeah I'm impatient but it's already carbed and ready in just a week. Grapefruity, smooth...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I brewed this today. Had a little more loss than figured. Got 5 gallons in the fermenter ph 5.2 OG 1.065. Wort tastes delicious

    Starter and High Krausen

So I'm brewing tomorrow. I put a 1.5 L starter of 1318 last night on the stir plate. I came home from work a while ago and see that it's past high krausen. Is there anything I should do before I pitch tomorrow afternoon or am I ok.

    Pineapple extract?

I added the whole 4 oz bottle of extract to my 5 gal batch in secondary. Same recipe as the grapefruit sculpin. 4 oz is a bit too much but it's only been in the bottle for 1.5 weeks. (I'm an impatient bastid). Do you think it will mellow out over time?

Last two batches have been my best

So I've done about 12 brews since January. My first 4 were extract and partial mash. The last 8 all grain. The first 10 all came out really good but still not professional quality, My last two, an IPA and a grapefruit sculpin clone were amazing. The two things I did differently were a more...

    Fermentable Late Additions

I added 24 ounces (2 lbs.) to about 6 gallons and I did give it a stir. My guy at the LHBS told me to give it a good slow stir.

    Fermentable Late Additions

Sorry I know this has been asked before. I read an answer in another thread and the answer wasn't dumbed down enough for me to get it. I'm doing Richards Pumpkin Ale recipe. I tweaked it a bit by adding maple syrup 5 days into primary, OG 1.055 G before adding maple syrup 1.008 G after...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Richard's Pumpkin Ale

I'm going to brew this Sunday. Here is a good article on brewing sugars: https://byo.com/bock/item/1441-sweetness-brewing-sugars-how-to-use-them "Maple sap typically contains about 2% sucrose. Maple syrup is standardized at a minimum of 66° Brix, and is typically 95% sucrose or more. Grade...

    Northern Brewer Grapefruit Sculpin clone

Brewed this Sunday with my brand new Edelmetal burner. Nice to be brewing outdoors on a summer day. Boiled a lot quicker and boiled off a lot more water than with the cooktop. Had to add water to make up the 5 gallon total but still came out with O.G of 1.065. Guy at LHBS told me to do the 2...

Double IPA Dogfish Head 90 Minute Clone

So my batch is in the bottle three weeks and carbed. As I noted before I used a full two pounds of the TFA by mistake. It is quite a bit toastier than it should be but this beer is really good. The next time I do this beer I will try the palisades and use a hop bag in secondary. There is...
