    Two Step Yeast Starter Help

I was just checked my pitch calculator says that if i do a 2L for the first step and a 3L for the second step i will have the right amount. So... that my new plan. So if i add the 3L of wort on top of the 2L(from 1st step) would that be any issues? Then i would crash & decant before pitching.

I am making a two step starter for my next brew. I am under the gun for time. My question is, are there any ill effects from just adding the second step's wort on top of the wort from the first step??? I normally cold crash and decant the spent off the yeast cake before adding the wort for the...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My LHBS ordered it for me. I am assuming they went direct from imperial but not certain. I have yet to try but love the ester description they have for it on there website. My friend brewed a 10gal batch and had activity 3 hrs after pitching the entire package, no starter was used

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yeah i thought it was too much work too, but wanted to just throw the idea out there. Right now i have my first batch in the new fermzilla and i really like how you can purge the collection jar with CO2. I am using the collection jar to add my dry hop charges. I just put them in the jar, attach...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

On guy in my brew club recommended pre-crushing all the pellets, putting them in a ziplock bag, this way you can squeeze the 02 out without any voids of O2 between the pellets, purging ziplock bag with CO2, then purging your FV so a layer of CO2 is on top of you brew before adding hops. Then...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

here is where i have been getting my replacement silicone dip tubes/CBDS. https://www.williamsbrewing.com/Tubing-for-Top-Draw-Pick-Up-sold-per-foot-P4660.aspx One thing i learned about the CBDS when doing my last competition: the neipa just hit its prime after kegging in about 12 days. But...

I was buying some A24 DH at the LHBS and found Kveiking its a seasonal strain from Imperial so i picked a pack up too. Anyone try or hear any thing about it. It sounds pretty NEIPAish to me. Here is Imperials description & that is what sold me on it "A blend of three Kveik strains that can...

Optimal PID settings for Inkbird ipb 16

Few questions ctl = 1 (seems ok) P = 30 (since 50 is the default wouldn't you want this to be higher like 80 i would think. This is the response speed and adjustment accuracy of the sys will be improved per the instructions.) I = 1 (this seems way too low) d = 300 (seem ok)

Optimal PID settings for Inkbird ipb 16

thanks i just got one of these and have not figured out how to fine tune the setting for home brewing. I just check out the ziegler web site and have no clue how to use that kind of math problem. I guess i will just stick with your recommended numbers and see what happens. :)

    Inkbird IPB-16 PID Controller Inquiry

I am trying to tune my inkbird PB 16 that i just got, does anyone have any other good tips or suggestions for modifying the default setting that it comes preprogramed with it when it brand new. I just changed my "ctl" setting to 1 sec as suggested earlier in this thread. Any help would be...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I hope so. Not quite sure how to test how much faster it will be. Maybe it will shave a day off your DH. Your right I will have to dump the yeast first. A good feature this FV has is that there is a keg post attached to the jar where you can perge it with co2 before opening the valve. So it...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Good to know thanks guys, I think I will give it a shot. I have some confidence in this now. Here is a little twist I discovered when cleaning out the new fermenter. Do you fellas think that this will step up my dry hop game any? I am able to create slight movement when running my weak a$$ stir...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

yeah i can soft crash under pressure to prevent O2 suckback during the chilling. Is 50*F low enough for the soft crash, thats what i have been doing to drop yeast out. I can put upto 35psi on my new fermzilla fermentor, what psi do you guys use when dry hopping. Another question: When you soft...
