Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I’m a good inch below the steam pipe—I’ll put it together and try it out once I get my plumbing in. Worst case is I buy the right parts.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Does the spray nozzle need to be even with the pipe containing the steam? I have a pipe from a rims tube that I wanted to use but the nipple I’m using to connect the water input to the nozzle places the nozzle an inch or so below the opening to the steam pipe.

What size hole for a hot rod element?

No I think it may be an older model. It is a weldless enclosed element. So I guess I just need to know the size hole for a regular element.

What size hole for a hot rod element?

Need to get over to the hardware store to pick up either a punch or a bit to drill the hole tonight but I haven’t been able to find anywhere what size hole I need to drill. Help?!

Returning to brewing, heating water and check to see it all works...

Oh yeah been there done that. The bruhlosophy guys did a very good episode about reducing oxidation and one of the big ones was don’t cold crash unless you can do it without any oxygen ingress.

WTB S/S HERMS coil for 15 gal kettle

Title says it all--might not be worth it with current shipping prices but I figured I'd give it a shot. Preferably one with 1/2" npt or bulkhead fittings on the end.

    Wiring schematic help

Ha I was thinking of just letting the breaker trip when I screw up! I was just given a 1500w 120v element that I’ll try in the rims tube for now. I’ll stick with the 50AMP service and just make it work.

Blichmann Tower of Power Gas Controllers w/ temp sensors, igniters, and solenoid valves

No I wasn’t—I’m keeping the flow meter, pump, and everything else for my electric system I am building.

    Wiring schematic help

Thank you for the reply! If I ran a 60amp gfci bow could I forgo the three way switch? I’ll snap pics of the flow meter and the alarm because I realize that would be helpful. Basically I want the flow meter to kill power to the element when the flow drops to prevent scorching. The alarm would...

    Wiring schematic help

Hi All, I bought a partially built panel off another HBTer and want to change the plans. I, however, don’t have the experience to plan out the diagram effectively. I attached what I’ve been working with: 240V 50A panel with two pumps and two 5500v elements. The original plan was to run the HLT...

    Panel wiring help

Thanks so much everyone for the ideas. I’m going to try to rearrange things a bit to see if I can make everything fit. I still need to add a neutral BUS which should be relatively small but I am not sure there is enough room for everything. If there isn’t I’ll PM doug293cz for the deets on...

    Panel wiring help

I should have added that the receptacle for the wire in the contactor is too narrow for the spade end. Also, the largest spade connectors I have are 10-16 Gauge and there is no room for anything else besides the 10g wire. Hence the problem.

    Panel wiring help

Hi, I bought a partially built 50AMP panel off a fellow HBT’er and I’m working on putting it together. The contactors used to power the elements don’t have enough space to power the 10AWG wire plus the 14AWG wire that will go to the light. The only thought I had was to put a wirenut in there but...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Can I ask why you added the additional straight tube below the t? I was planning on doing the same design with just a T and the elbow.

    More beer sparge arm

More beer sparge arm for sale. Works great but I went with more automation. $75 shipped (and shipping is expensive if you haven’t done any lately).

    Please critique my HERMS workflow

To the last post.... in the original diagram shows first runnings then a sparge in the next diagram. If you’ve made it this far in brewing and are building a system like this—I’m surprised you don’t know what you want your process to be! That said—you rock for building this! I would fly sparge...
