Im trying to brew at my parents but left my yeast at home four hours away.

Also. Don't drink out of the bottles your harvesting out of. Pour it into a glass. Your starter needs to be super sanitary or you will grow a funky starter. Which will make funk beer. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

I quit reading before that line. Haha. Making a yeast starter from your bottles should work out!

Well, how long are you going to be there. Your best bet would be to find a store bought beer that still has some yeasties in suspension. And make a starter off of that. I doubt you even have time to do that though. Perhaps, do some googling for a local homebrew club. You might could buy a...

    Saisons

Ive fermented Saisons into the 80s before. It worked great! Its actually my goto summer beer for this very reason. The last one I did, smelled sooooooo bad while it was fermenting. It was disgusting. Then, tasted AMAZING.

    Final gravity consistently high

I agree, I used to almost always use a secondary. Now I am too lazy. I have noticed no real loss.. Other than, 1 less chance to ruin a batch.

    PSI for a Quad?

Thanks for the reply, I had actually started at 12. And that felt low, so I raised it to 15. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a foamy mess.. If so, I may just order some longer lines.

    Usable as a brew kettle?

aluminum can pick up flavors... Clean the crud out of it, then boil o2 once.... make a batch, and see if it turns out okay. If so, keep using it.. Otherwise don't any more. I would eventually upgrade to a stainless one. I am not a big fan of aluminum pots.

When should I keg an 11.04% beer?

I made a quad the first week of October... life got busy, so that's the only beer that I have left in the fermenters at the moment. Do y'all think its ready to be kegged or should I wait a while and drink... GASP: Store purchased beer? Cheers

Second batch, need help pinpointing the problem

Just a thought here, but is your brew kettle only a brew kettle? Or do you use one of your kitchen pots? It could have had some residue on it, that messed things up...

Modified NB Caribou Slobber? Think this will work?

I've been partial mashing for a while. Love doing it. I use a little 3 gal cooler. And a screen manifold that I made as a filter. Works well.
