Yeah normal brews im at about 30mins. Usually within a point or three of where i want to be. Slow trickle sparge gives time to drink.

Took me a while to dial things in and still every now and then have random mishaps and gravity misses. Cleaning on this system is great once you add a wet vac and just hit the mashtun while boiling. Definitely needs a sparge arm and I seem to do my best when I dedicate a full hour to trickling...

Seeing this today with M44 west coast yeast on what looked like a stuck fermentation though it might just be coincidence because I added a fresh yeast starter earlier in the week. Refused to budge from 1.024 for 5 days. Added some hops yesterday and Im suddenly seeing gravity dropping again.

The small freezer approach has worked great for me in a garage. Crashing small batches is no problem. Larger 10 gallon batches gets iffy in the garage when temps are above 60s so fall/winter only for big batches below 35. Im moving up to a real chiller since im adding a cf15.

I made the mistake of dumping the stir bar once. When I went to dump trub in my connical it managed to get lodged in the dump port. I have no idea how I did it but I got it out and only took 2 gallons of beer to the face.

You won't regret it. The spike 20 kettles are great.

If you source your pumps and controller elesewhere you can do the spike system much cheaper. Custom kettle order + various parts you will need. Just email them and they can take care of the rest. - never mind looks like you already bought it.

Never had an issue with it clogging. Whirlpool does a pretty good job piling crap up in the center.

I'm using the lengths they cut and actually might make new longer ones since its a little tight from the bk to the wort pump. Lengths are for workflow config/optimization. Im usually 3 degrees between mash tun out and hlt.
