💥50% OFF for Inkbird 1500ft Remote range Wireless Thermometer with 4 Probes(only $29.99 can get one)👏

I have this one too and I really haven't used it to speak of..... HOWEVER, after giving them a good but uneditable review on Walmart for their remote pool thermometer, I feel I have to caution folks. 300' range it claims....HA! I'm lucky if mine stays connected over 40' with fresh batteries...

Lalbrew Kveik Voss dry yeast - starter?

Got down to a 1.015 from 1.059 within 36 hours. About 3 points short of target, but I don't drink ABV, I drink volumes! I've let it sit for the rest of the week (had a hip replaced in the meantime, lol...) and will start crashing it shortly.

I'm worried they'll eat my fermenter and come after me in my sleep!

Lalbrew Kveik Voss dry yeast - starter?

Holy moly! Brew day yesterday.....10lbs of rice (frozen since last week's aborted brew day), 15 lbs. Vienna and 1 lb modifieds. The rice wanted to gum things up a bit so we had to stir the mash a lot, but no big deal. The HERMS continuous sparging mash works great. We hit all numbers bang...

    Motorizing a DIY Grain Mill

Have you considered just using a power drill? I use my Porter Cable and grind 25lbs of grain for brew day in about 5 minutes. My mill is mounted to the top of a big bucket and I then just pour it into the mash tun. Easy peasy, cheap and quick.

Lalbrew Kveik Voss dry yeast - starter?

Well, glad I didn't make a starter! My chugger quit working so I had to call off day. Good thing I hadn't milled grains yet either. Rice got cooked yesterday but is now in bags in freezer. The pump quits pumping and squeals like a pig. I removed impeller and reamed it out but it didn't...

Lalbrew Kveik Voss dry yeast - starter?

Thanks everyone. Cooking 10 lbs of rice today and it will go in the mash with the Vienna (and some amylase for good measure) tomorrow. It is supposed to be mid 90's tomorrow here so I shouldn't have any problem keeping the fermentation nice and warm. Hopping with Columbus which I read...

Lalbrew Kveik Voss dry yeast - starter?

I'm brewing a 1.059 Vienna/rice summer drinker on Monday, 11.5 gallons to fermenter. My first use of Kveik. BrewersFriend is saying 475B cells required, 110B present. Normally I make starters for all my beers (1 packet and make a 2l 1.035 gravity starter - does well for me). I've been...

For Sale Knobs, buttons & switches oh my!

They latch, so not momentary. The buttons themselves can have NO, NC, latching or momentary switches mounted to them (the black pieces in the right side of the picture). Mine are all latching, some NO, some NC. These can be purchased separately from multiple places.

I thought people would be all over this.... Are we a dying breed? Is the price wrong?

    Temp control start to finish.

Some long winded answers.... #1 fermentation temp control. #2 mash temp control. Period.

💥50% OFF for Inkbird 1500ft Remote range Wireless Thermometer with 4 Probes(only $29.99 can get one)👏

Just ordered. Seems like a great deal as I like the Inkbird products. Will probably use for BBQ as well as double checking mash, HLT, BK and herms temps...... UPDATE. Just received it. Seems well made. All sensors read same values - good. Haven't used yet, but tested fine out of the box.

For Sale Knobs, buttons & switches oh my!

What you see is what I've got. 5 push button (lighted), 3 toggles (2 lighted, 1 is a 3 way) and an emergency stop. 3 NC, 4 NO switches and adapter pieces in addition to the ones attached to the buttons/toggles. Missing 1 screw that holds a switch up against the underside of the panel. I...

    Stout with odd numbers....

Ain't chemistry grand? 1g of baking soda into the 5 gallon keg to neutralize ~1 ml too much of acid seems to have done the trick with no discernable change to anything else flavor wise. I'm letting it 'settle' a bit and will re-taste when my palate gets back to normal, but initial results look...

    Stout with odd numbers....

I'm jinxed with this quickie batch... I got probably 1 ml too much lactic into the keg when I went to give it the Guinness 'twang' that I always do. It's a very fine line and I crossed it a bit. I don't have any potassium bicarbonate to neutralize it, but do have sodium bicarbonate. For the...

    Stout with odd numbers....

Great article. I like to see that kind of testing. I'm thinking maybe I was a little short on time, perhaps the herms temperature a bit high and perhaps the grind a bit course. If I 'erred' on all of them in the same direction, that could account for the difference this time around. Thanks.

    Stout with odd numbers....

I have a recipe for a Guinness clone that I have found to be pretty spot on and that I have brewed often. All grain, herms. I just brewed it again and realized I didn't have any crushed barley on hand so I scrambled to find that pearled barley was a suitable substitute. I understand it has...
