Mesh for mash tun bottom filter

It will work, mesh just tends to be a bit expensive if you go for something like ss.

    DIPA confession

Would not suprise me if it is the price per ounce.

    DIPA confession

He is willing to give the recipe, but I'm currently not willing to spend 60 bucks on hops for a single batch of beer...

    DIPA confession

I have generally disliked almost hated IPa's and DIPA's. The first one I tasted was at a small craft brewery, I loved their pale ale and stout. The DIPA tasted like sucking on a hot pine cone dipped in onion and garlic - this caused me to be wary of the style. It didn't help that the next two...

Moving to Kegs, Should I worry about exploding Kegs?

my kegs say that they fail at 130PSI or 9Bar pressure. Getting there is possible but only if you do so on purpose, accidentally getting the pressure that high is going to take a mayor series of unfortunate events.

    Cleaning a Copper kettle

Hi, I just finished Lars Garshol's book on Historic Brewing Techniques and it has got me thinking about brewing in older ways. I have a 20 gallon copper kettle that has not been used in a while. How do I make it safe to brew in? I have boiled vinegar in it, and scrubbed it with a copper brush...

Build an Urn-father vs buying a grainfather

With the quarantine I've had more time to brew than in a very long time and have gotten a bit fed up with mashtuns and cleaning. I wanted to buy a grainfather (the cheapest electric single vessel system in South Africa) but will have to wait a month or so for one to be sourced. The other option...

Shut down leisure activities-what are y'all doing to pass the time?

30% of what I do is considered essential, so I try to stretch that out as much as possible. Brew one gallon batches of beer every week, as South Africa no has prohibition and malt is not easy to get. Bake bread, bake rusks. Exercise more than ever before.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Thanks, I use my reloading scale that measures in 10ths of a gram so I'm fairly sure I could put the same amount of hops into a batch. Kinda figured it is one of those cases of if you don't do it the way I do, it can't be consistent.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I'm curious about something. I've been brewing one gallon batches for about six years, but almost never brew the same recipe back to back, often I will only repeat a recipe when I drank the last bottle of that specific batch. Someone mentioned that it is not really possible to brew consistent...

    Brewing a 12oz batch

Hi, I read somewhere about someone doing a batch that was just enough to fill one 12oz bottle. Has anyone tried it on purpose?

    How long an Extract Brewer?

I did two kits before I switched to all grain BIAB. But since then when the beer is low and I don't have time I will brew an extract kit. The beer is still good, I just prefer styles that I can't get kits in.

    Kiwi wine using wild yeast

It should do something, it might make wine, it might make vinegar, or is could just make a foul juice. that is the fun of wild yeast, you might get a fantastic wine or you might get nothing.

    Distilling infected beer

Hi, Does anyone know whether there is a chance any of the infection carries over if one distills an infected batch of beer? or should it rather be tossed?

    Pigeons and spent grain?

Hi, Does anyone know whether Pigeons eat spent grain? usually I add to compost but with the whole being locked in I wonder if I can lure pigeons with spent grain to keep myself occupied.
