    Milling your own grain??

One thing is if you are not going to brew right away, the crushed grain may absorb some moisture from the air and not be as fresh when you get around to brew. I don't live close to my LHBS, so I'll pick up the supplies when I get a chance and brew later on so I need a mill to keep my grains fresh.

wort chillers as waste of water??

If that is the case then don't even homebrew. Because there is no way you are more efficient economically or ecologically than a large commercial brewer. Just go out and buy a case of BMC and know you are doing the best for the environment. For myself, I'm not going to worry about wasting any...

First timer. Have parts from two kits, what else needed??

You didn't mention what kind of bottles you have. You need the pry off cap kind. Twist off won't work. If they are not pry off just buy 10 six packs of a micro brew pry off cap beer and drink it all up while your beer is fermenting. :drunk:. I'd get new tubing as well as Star San for sanitizing...

    No Successful Homebrew Attempts

How do your older beers taste? Or do you finish a batch before you brew another one. I'd bring one over to the Homebrew shop to have them taste it. If it all taste fine up until bottling may be you can describe your bottling procedures so someone can analyze it. Or check out Revvy's bottling FAQ...

Advice for upgrading my brewing set up

I have found that if you really want a particular item but for whatever reason you settle for something else that you will eventually get the desired item and more or less end up wasting what you spent on the lesser item. So if money is not a problem for you then I'd just get the Brew Magic like...

    Returning after a long layoff.

Hello all. I'm a returning homebrewer after a long layoff. I brewed an Saint Arnold's Amber clone about a week ago. Even though I have quite a few brews under my belt, I learn new things all the time from this form. For instance, before I always transfered to a secondary after 5-7 days. I wanted...

What to brew for my wedding?

The first thing that came to mind was a Bitchy Blonde. But I think a pale ale or something light for those who only drink Bud, Miller, Etc. And something you want to drink all night. Also brewing a big ABV beer for anniversaries is a great idea.

    Sore throat

If the OP is allergic to the beer then he would have a systemic reaction (hives all over the body, itching, and or anaphylactic reactions. His description of a sore throat right after drinking the beer might be a local reaction to the beer itself, may be too acidic? Does the same reaction happen...

Who knows the science of what goes on?

I'm a Pharmacist and I too understand the with the yeast and also the others you ask about. I'm sure you have an extensive chemistry background as well so understanding what you ask about won't be a problem. I learned most of it from homebrew books that I have. Go out and buy some books or may...
