Could I use a syringe through a ball lock to add gelatin finings?

I would take any information you like here and copy/paste into a word document then file in your "Brewing" directory. I keep a directory on my PC for stuff I have saved just like this.

    Spot the Space Station

After I get the Flight 9 patch I'll have room for #10. I'll need to add on or rearrange for any others. I know, I'm dreaming to think Flight 10 will be a fabulous success! Probably need room for at least ten more . . . .

Could I use a syringe through a ball lock to add gelatin finings?

No additives, just chill time, comes out fine!

Could I use a syringe through a ball lock to add gelatin finings?

Interesting results; trading one thing for another, clear beer but giving up character and hop aroma. I'm sticking with cold crashing to clearing up my beer.

Dark beers cover lots of styles and different flavor profiles. Stouts are different than a porter and different than Schwarzbier. Perhaps you should try a few different commercial or craft examples to figuring what you like.

Could I use a syringe through a ball lock to add gelatin finings?

It's admirable to want to learn but if something easier works I would just stick with that. There's a lot of tasks when brewing that we could all do but making things more complicated shouldn't be one of them. I cold crash my kegged beer, and it clears just fine. I do like the syringe gizmo...

Wine for the end of the world as we know it

Works really well on those stubborn nuts.

Congratulations! Do you have an idea what the alcohol level is? You be on to a good thing, very nice!

    Is the Hellfire worth it?

I'd vote electric too, if anything it's much safer and lots better systems available these days. You need to consider your batch size versus your available home electrical system. Almost impossible to brew large batches on 120vac.

    Barrel aged stout

I would shy away from using an actual barrel unless you are absolutely sure where it came from and how it was handled. Dumping a five gallon batch is painful. Multiple that and it's even worse. Lots of other options for barrel aged beers out there. Start small and learn first.

Welcome to the group! As mentioned there's plenty of small batch brewers here. It should be fairly easy to downsize since you already have lots of brewing experience, just need smaller capacity equipment. If you use brewing software you should be able to convert your existing recipes too.

    Is the Hellfire worth it?

First off welcome to the forum! Where in Yooperland do you reside if you don't mind sharing? My homeland is Gladstone. The Help fire is an impressive propane burner but for the price I would consider other offerings. It'll function just fine but so do many others on the market for a fraction of...

    Spot the Space Station

I know with every launch they are collecting valuable data but flight 9 was disappointing. The booster almost landed like it was suppose to in the Gulf of Mexico. The ship, well that did better, went farther than the previous two. It was doomed when it started spinning. Beautiful but sad video...

Life in a small French village for an old American

I'm going to that camp area next week. A friend has a very remote cabin near there. It's gated property, he owns a hundred or so acres and it borders DNR land. Very wooded, a beautiful river, and no people! Very much off grid living. I couldn't live long like that, but three days will be very...

    Rack to keg as secondary?

Yes I did read that from the post, I was just stating why someone would transfer beer to another keg. I have them on some of my kegs and some not.

Are you saying you like bitterness in dark beers? IPA beers are typically bitter from different types of hops and extra additions of them. Dark beers can also be hopped more but it almost sounds like you like the bitterness of darker type grains. That's two different types of bitterness found...

    Rack to keg as secondary?

The reason to transfer the beer after conditioning is that the yeast has dropped to the bottom of the keg. Since you use a floating dip tube gizmo, you don't pick up that bottom sludge.

Life in a small French village for an old American

The humidity here in Wisconsin isn't terrible, there's days where it's miserable but still able to do limited activities outdoors. Drinking is best in those days, stay hydrated with home brew. Having four actual seasons is very nice. I'm retired from engineering, power and controls. I spent...
